i took DD2 to be weighted and have some Vax, while there i asked my Health Visitor how many mums she knows who breastfeed past 12 months
she said "that would be a big fat zero" i said "well its actualy 1" she was quite impressed i am BFing past 12 months.

then she asked me if i wanted to do Peer Support training. i said yes. so i have a form to fill out and take back to get on a course to become a breastfeeding councilor yey.

i may have to pay out of pocket for child care costs but who cares. i can make a differerance to future mums its well worth it

It starts with one mother who is generous enough with her time and experience to light the way for others... good for you!:

onemagicmummy, that's brilliant!

I've been thinking about doing some breastfeeding peer support - do you reckon I'm best off asking my Health Visitor about local schemes then? That hadn't occurred to me at all!

asking yor HV would be a good place to start. if there are no local schemes you could try An on-line course

Just completed class number 2 on my course for being a breastfeeding peer supporter and I am loving it so far. My only moan is that the 1 1/2 we are given per class isn't long enough--There is so much to talk about and to learn!!!

So far, I reccommend going if they offer!
