A little help?

I'm working on a sweater and the bottom of it is done in Double Moss st (which I just learned is also called Seed st). I'm just terrified that I'm not reading this pattern right.

It says:
Row 1 (RS): K1, work row 1 of Double Moss St (beg and end as indicated) to last st, k1. Maintaining first and last sts throughout in St st, cont in Double Moss St until piece measures 2".

So for starters, where it says "beg and end as indicated" - um, it's not indicated anywhere. So if I'm reading this right am I supposed to K1,
*P2, K2*, and repeat until the end and then K1? And then on the second row do I start with P1 or do I do the K1 at the beg and end of every row?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hi there:

i'm no expert and those patterns can sometimes be really confusing, but I think it sounds like you are working the edges in Stockinette and the bulk of the row in Seed St, so I would K1(to start), work your Seed Stitch, K1 (to finish the row), then start the next row with a P1, work your Seed Stich, P1 again to finish the row. I think that's what the beg & end as indicated means.

Is there a pic of the finished patter so you can see what its supposed to look like? Just to be sure? You can always work up 2 rows and if it looks crazy, rip it out & try again. (I'm a big ripper-outer once I've totally screwed a pattern)

But again, I'm sure there are more experienced knitters who could explain the directions better!

Since the pattern says to keep stockinette on the edges, you'd k the end stitches on the right side and p them on the wrong side. :

Ok, sounds like I'm doing ok then. I'm finally coming to a place in my knitting where I am realizing it's ok to rip out, but it's still so time consuming and I try to avoid it at all costs!

Thanks for the help ladies!
