Recycling wool sweaters into longies, etc

Hi! I have been doing a lot of longies from old wool sweaters lately. I just wanted to know opinions on a few things:

  1. What would you pay for a pair of well-sewn recycled longies?
  2. Should I strip the wool somehow or wash it at all before lanolizing/selling/using?
  3. What's your favorite lanolin/wool wash?

If I think of anything else I'll post later. . .

Thanks!

I would pay $10-15 for recycled wool longies. Maybe more if they were so cute, I loved the pattern etc. Now, I have never bought any, so my price may be way off base. Look on diaperswappers.com wahm forum for the going rate.

I wash everything that touches the babies before they use it, so imo, stripping etc. would not be necessary. Lanolizing it first would be a bonus, but not a must as i would probably just do it again anyway.

Interested in knowing others fave lanolin as I am just using Lasinoh.

Well, I'd probably pay $15-20 for nice longies from nice sweaters, but I also make my own, so I haven't bought any.
It seems that washing before you make it into longies will make sure it's as felted as it's going to be, so the mom who buys it still has longies the right size after she washes them.
I have used Lansinoh, Sudz-N-Duds, and have some lanolin from Ewe Need It.
I love the smell of the Sudz-N-Duds (spray lanolin), but prefer the ease of Lansinoh. I'm anxious to try the stuff from Ewe Need It.

I agree, I would say around 15-20. I also made my own, sold some to some friends for around that much, however make sure the crotch is really reinforced, sometimes they can unravel. I say lanolinize them first as well, Im not sure if this store is still around anymore, but jacksmagicbeanstalk is where i used to get mine from they had lots of different scents, very yummy especially the one that smelled like baby magic

I longies!

I have also made my own,but a store near me has them for about $10-15.

I use pockets so lanolised(sp) is not a draw, and if I wanted water proof I probly would do it myself.

Hope this helps.
