Third year of "Free Flu Clinic" vaxing at my workplace.

I guess this is just a rant. I am anti-vax myself, but I generally don't really care if an informed, consenting adult wants to get the flu vax for themselves. Their body, their risk I guess.

But it's now getting pretty ridiculous at my work. It started somewhat innocently I suppose when someone higher up got on a "health" kick and they had someone come in and talk about some "staying healthy" BS and hand out some IMO useless pamphlets. A few months later, in keeping with their theme, they offered the company's first free flu vax service in each of our offices. Passport Health is the local company that is providing this service.

Now, in our third year of having this service, Passport Health has gotten extremely aggressive in pushing this flu vax. There are flyers all over the office, and our office manager has been tasked with sending out twice-weekly emails, starting a more than a month out from the vax date! We have already received four emails and they are not coming until 24 Oct.

The flyers have slogans like, "don't let your co-workers down by being out with the flu" and the emails are lengthy pro-vax propaganda with the CDC stats and scare tactics--all the usual stuff. :

I am just waiting for someone to specifically ask me directly, are you going to get the vax, and I don't know what I will do. I wonder if our mgr somehow just knows not to ask me. I know some people have been asked directly and I really wish it was appropriate for me to say something in those situations. It's one thing to offer it generally, but to ask anyone individually seems to me to be a breach of privacy.

And, frankly, I think the flu vax is the most absurd of all the vaxes. I'd sooner get any number of others before I got the flu shot. It's such a scam.

So, I guess that was a rambling rant. Thanks for reading anyway!

It is getting very annoying the force with which big pHARMa is selling their crap. DD is a teacher and they do the same t hing at her school district. She couldn't keep quiet and sent all teachers a list of ingredients in the shot last year already.

Last year my friend got one. I told her the facts -- that it only protects against four strains of the flu, that it doesn't protect against the common cold, etc etc. She said, "Well then why the hell did I just get it then?!" She thought it would protect her against colds. Of course they didn't set her straight.

I had a friend who was similarly misinformed on the flu vax. She thought it was for the "stomach flu" as well. I told her a bit about it the day before she was to get it and she actually declined it! She still vaxes her child, but at least she can see some of the vaxes out their are just money makers now.

Amazing, isn't it? This year, we had to pay 1/2 the cost of the shot, or $12.50. I'm interested to see how many did it now that it wasn't free.

When my 13yr old walks home from high school he walks by our health dept. He asked how much trouble he would get in by taking or swithching the phone number to call for the free flu shots.

I said frome ME or the law I said dont do it in day light and dont get caught swiiching numbers and left it at that

Last year he told his friend ( who just got the flu shot) that he better watch his nads they were going to schrivle up and fall off.

You think that's bad, trying working at a hospital. They all but tell us we're going to kill every single patient in the hospital if we don't get the shot. And I don't even work in a department with patient contact!
