I guess this is just a rant. I am anti-vax myself, but I generally don't really care if an informed, consenting adult wants to get the flu vax for themselves. Their body, their risk I guess.
But it's now getting pretty ridiculous at my work. It started somewhat innocently I suppose when someone higher up got on a "health" kick and they had someone come in and talk about some "staying healthy" BS and hand out some IMO useless pamphlets. A few months later, in keeping with their theme, they offered the company's first free flu vax service in each of our offices. Passport Health is the local company that is providing this service.
Now, in our third year of having this service, Passport Health has gotten extremely aggressive in pushing this flu vax. There are flyers all over the office, and our office manager has been tasked with sending out twice-weekly emails, starting a more than a month out from the vax date! We have already received four emails and they are not coming until 24 Oct.
The flyers have slogans like, "don't let your co-workers down by being out with the flu"
and the emails are lengthy pro-vax propaganda with the CDC stats and scare tactics--all the usual stuff.
:
I am just waiting for someone to specifically ask me directly, are you going to get the vax, and I don't know what I will do. I wonder if our mgr somehow just knows not to ask me. I know some people have been asked directly and I really wish it was appropriate for me to say something in those situations. It's one thing to offer it generally, but to ask anyone individually seems to me to be a breach of privacy.
And, frankly, I think the flu vax is the most absurd of all the vaxes. I'd sooner get any number of others before I got the flu shot. It's such a scam.
So, I guess that was a rambling rant. Thanks for reading anyway!
