Hi everyone,

My 3 (just turned 3) year old has pretty bad decay. He has been going and getting cleaning and everytime the dentist says he is just still too young to do any work. The majority of the decay is on his upper four front teeth. The two front teeth look better than the two on the sides which are slowly just breaking off. I've noticed that he doesn't use the four to chew with, he will bite with his side teeth. I feel so bad for him. So the dentist wants to have my son put to sleep in the hospital and have all the work done at once. We looked into this a few months back and at that time our insurance wouldn't cover the in hospital total care which would have been close to $8,000 out of pocket for us so we opted to wait and seeif he would be able to get the work he needs done. They say he needs crowns on all four! I REALLY feel unseasy about this. I even had a dream that he dies in surgery. I don't know, this is all my fault because I have not taken the best care of his teeth. I feel totally like a failure.

So the dentist wants to ask the insurance again and I really wanted to talk to you guys.

A friend was telling me that here on mothering there have been parents who have cured their kids' teeth through diet? cod liver oil?

Can this actually be done? Please point me in some direction.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

At the top of the page there is a sticky called curing cavities with nutrition. That might be a good place to start.

Btw, my daughter's name is Hadassah. I don't see it around very often!

My 2 yr old ds just had GA a few days ago and it was stressful but I'm glad they're taken care of now. If your child is having pain in his teeth to the point that he won't use them to bite off food, I would definitely go ahead and have caps put on. JMHO.

thank you all SO much....I appreciate everyone's advice. I think I am going to get the book and go from there. I know that my son has way too much sugar in his diet which is something I aim to change.
