adjusting a pattern for a older child

i have a pattern book of crochet patters (candy Tots by candie Jensen)
i want to make the coat with the furry collar for my 4yr old DD
the pattern give instructions for 3yr old's so how would i adjust the pattern to fit my DD

there are actualy a bunch of thins in this book tht woul ssuit my DD2 perfectly so i wouldnt mind making a few thigns for her if i can sucesfully make them bigger.

it would look so cute to have both girls in matching sweaters adn both boys in matching sweaters too. so being able to adjust to a bigger size would be good to know to make a pattern for a 3yr old fit a 6yr old too

thanks

on ravelry it says that the largest chest size (finished) is 28" - that mgiht well be good for your daughter. What is her actual chest measurement? There should be a fair amount of ease (4" or so for a cardigan) so you might be able to get away with doing that size and making the sleeves and body a bit longer.

thanks, i decided to do the stripy jumper instead and got enought yarn to make 2 so maybe i can make one each.

the ayrn recomended in the book is not easy to get a hold of in UK at a price i can afford so i am using cheaper alternatives and just hoping it works out.
