Flu shot question.... (now he's sick)

My three year old daycare boy went in last week for a flu shot.

But, today, he has the flu.

Nobody else here has even so much as an itchy nose. So, he didn't get it here.

He DID go to Sunday school this weekend, and he was in a doctor's office last week. (to get his shot) It's starting to cool down a little bit here, and I have had the doors open in the morning before it heats up again. So, it could be allergies???

Or. Is he sick from the shot?

Is it sniffles or throwing up/nausea and diarrhoea?

It's a fever, cough, a runny nose and generally feeling really lousy.

Its the flu shot. That was my reaction after I did, and it lasted for weeks. I also vomitted 10 min. after I received it, but everyone reacts diff. After feeling the way I felt, no one in my fam. Will ever get that again.

The only time I ever had influenza in my entire life was the year my mother convinced me to get a flu shot. I spent Christmas in the hospital.

to your little boy. Flu is miserable.

Every single person I have ever known that got a flu shot, has gotten the flu shortly afterwards, every.single.person. I have a rule in my house

"if you get the flu shot, you can not visit for 2 weeks afterwards"

My MIL use to get the flu shot like clock work and got the flu every year. Last year I finally talked her into not getting one, she didn't get sick once. Same with my mom, she worked at a hospital and *had* to get them , she got the flu every year as well. It's been over 5 years since her last flu shot, she hasn't gotten the flu since.

My dh and I have never gotten the flu shot, and I can't even tell you when the last time I had the flu was or if I've ever had it for that matter (never been tested) My kids are unvaxed, and have never had the flu either.

The flu shot does not contain live viruses but it can weaken the immune system and thus make you more likely to get infected from another source.

including a slightly different strain of the flu.

The only year I haven't gotten sick was this one, when I got the flu mist... walked out of the office and blew my nose for all I was worth.

Can allergies cause fever? I don't really know anything about them.

I can't say for sure it is the shot but that sounds like how I've felt after getting them (mandatory where I work, no waiver). I'm sorry your boy is feeling badly, I hope he gets well soon.
