How effective are vaccines? I know they are not 100%, I think at one time I read that they are not very effective at all which is why the CDC and AAP want every child vaccinated.

Depends on the vaccine. What ones do you want to know about?

insidevaccines has a great page on vaccine efficacy--all from the product inserts--the ones you do not get to see at the doctor's office.

You can go to the CDC and search for each vaccine. I know pertusis is about 80% effective. The news article I linked to in a post below found the flu shot at most 52% effective in children (which is only slightly better than chance which is 50/50!). MMR they say 95-98% however during outbreaks the numbers seem much lower.

Honestly its hard to tell because diseases like Pertusis are underreported (because its often misdiagnosed and most people don't even know they have it since its so mild in adults), and some diseases you can get immunity to and never even know you had like Rubella since they are so mild. So blood tests for immunity don't necessarily give you accurate data.
