Prepping for our 6 month and non-vax...

Not looking forward to tomorrow morning, but want to be as prepared as I can be! Our pediatrician has this ability to make me feel teensy and quiet, but I need to be determined and outspoken!
We are going to be breaking the news that we "Are concerned about the vaccine schedule and the reactions DD has had thus far, and as such, we are no longer vaccinating until we can further research the issue" (They don't need to know yet we likely will not be vaxxing again :P)
I am sure we will get some argument, but I think we are going to be able to stand our ground. The thing I am trying to prep for is the Refusal form. I am fairly certain they are going to want us to sign something, and I would like advice on how to proceed with that (Just cross out the "offending area", refuse to sign anything, offer to write out my own, KWIM?)
I want to be able to just out of there without have to !

I am sure things will go fine... if not, walk out and find another Dr.

This form was on another thread I had saved... Thought that you might like to see

Vaccines Declined form for pediatrician's office

How about a copy of this form, a modified version of the form many peds try to get parents to sign...

Modified AAP Refusal of Vaccination Form

Consent Declined for Vaccines

Child’s ID#____________________

Parent’s/Guardian’s Name(s)___________________________________________

My child’s health care provider, ___________________, has advised me that my child (named above)
should receive the following vaccines:

Vaccines: Recommended and/or Declined

Hepatitis B Y/N Y/N __/__/__
DTaP Y/N Y/N __/__/__
DT or Td Y/N Y/N __/__/__

I have read the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Information Sheet(s) explaining the vaccine(s) and the disease(s) for which it is intended. I have had the opportunity to discuss this with my child’s health care provider, who has answered all of my questions regarding the recommended vaccine(s). I understand the following:

â—Ź The intended purpose of the recommended vaccine(s).
â—Ź The risks and benefits of the recommended vaccine(s).
â—Ź If my child does not receive the vaccine(s), the consequences may include
- Contracting the illness the vaccine should prevent. (the outcomes of these illnesses may include one or more of the following: pneumonia, illness requiring hospitalization, death, brain damage, meningitis, seizures, and deafness. Other severe and permanent effects from these vaccine -preventable diseases are possible as well)
- Transmitting the disease to others.
- The need for my child to stay out of child care or school during disease outbreaks.

â—ŹIf my child does receive the vaccine(s), the consequences may include:
-Contracting the illness the vaccine should have prevented
-Transmitting the disease to others
-Suffering from any of the adverse events listed in the package insert and possibly adverse events not
yet listed and/or associated with the vaccine. (the outcomes of these adverse events may include one or more of the following: illness requiring hospitalization, death, brain damage, meningitis, seizures, and deafness. Other severe and permanent effects from these vaccines are possible as well)
-Chronic illness and/or death

â—Ź My health care provider, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have all strongly recommended that the vaccine(s) be given based on the information they have been given by the drug companies producing the vaccines.

I have declined consent for the vaccine(s) recommended for my child, as indicated above, by checking the appropriate box under the column titled “Declined.”

I know that I may re-address this issue with my health care provider at any time, and that I may change my mind as personal beliefs are subject to evolve and change over time.

I acknowledge that I have read this document in its entirety and fully understand it.

Thanks for that I like the bit at the end Gievn that all my daughter's reactions where disregarded, not reported and we were told were "not vaccine related"

I wouldn't sign the refusal form. I'd just say that I'd write something for their file and it would say the doctor advised x vaxes and I have refused them-that's it.

If you think it would help, rather than saying you were no longer vaxing until you researched, you could say, you've decided to delay until she is older. Less confrontational, could make it easier for you to get out of there without a big fuss, yk? Sounds like the doc would not be open to discussion and thus whatever research you are planning to do would be considered useless to him.

I would really have a hard time with a doc that makes me feel teensy and quiet. You hire him to help you with the medical care of your child. I'd definitely try to find a doc who wasn't going to give me a hard time about it. There are a LOT of WBVs and if he won't respect your view on the matter, it will really be a lot of unnecessary anxiety for you. I wish they didn't make this so difficult. There are docs out there who are more amenable.

Good luck tomorrow, mama. Just take some deep breaths and repeat, "This is not up for discussion."

Thanks for the support I really appreciate it! I am hoping it goes well, but if it doesn't, we are looking for a new Dr already. Funny thing is he is on Dr. Sears site as a "Vaccine Friendly" ped... I don't like that term, makes me think they are friends with teh vax and not the parents, even though it is supposed to mean they are open to discussion and delaying/not vaxxing.

Bah, all he said was "If you don't give her the third dose of Rotateq she isn't fully protected, and you should be concerned about the flu and everything else because they are floating around out there"
They wanted me to sign the paper, and I did, didn't bother crossing the offending section out. I didn't feel like arguing and to be honest, since it isn't a legal document and really means squat, I don't give a shit if "I am endangering the population". I care more about my daughters health than the health of the population :P

Glad to hear this had a good outlook, but I am blown away by parents with similar sentiments "concerned about the vaccine schedule and the reactions DD has had thus far" yet they CONTINUE to vaccinate even after the child shows an adverse reaction or allergies or worse!

I know
The Dr asked what reactions she had last time, we told him, he blew it off, then said it was time for her shots and the nurse would be in. We said no, we are "delaying until she is older" and were concerned about the reactions/schedule and he said "What reactions? She didn't have any!" My DH was so upset over that reaction that he responded before I even could and reiterated what we had just told them!
