1wk postpartum - gushing fluid/blood

1 week postpartum now. During the day I bleed VERY lightly. It picks up at night. And then I also will randomly have a gush of fluid pour out of me. It feels like when my water broke. I go to the bathroom and its some blood, just was really watery or something. Does this sound normal? It has happened the past 2 nights for a total of 4 times. Does this sound normal?

I would call your MW. It may be nothing, but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

Sounds failry normal...still check with midwife...you may be doing to much and need to rest more. Increase your water intake too. LEt us know what your midwife says.

Same here. I am 3 weeks pp and I will go 3-4 days without anything and then as soon as I think I won't need a pad anymore all of the sudden BLAM, it gushes out like I've pee'd myself or something.

I'm doing the same thing at 8 days pp. It always feels like more than it looks like though and is more watery, mucousy than straight blood.

I would say it's normal since that is how I've been too. I would only be concerned if it was a lot of bright red straight blood. But if it is watery, mucousy, pinkish, brownish, then I'd say it's normal. Of course if you're truly worried about it, call your doc.

I'm 2 weeks pp and my bleeding was down to spotting. Then tonight I had some major gushing again. Called my MW and she said it was normal.

I'm 9 days pp and still bleeding. Same as everyone else - pinkish, to brownish, to pinkish, etc. Am hoping it stops soon!

I bled for a good 8 weeks. Mine would taper down to hardly anything, then I'd get a gush. It's only the past week or two that I'm positive I don't need a pad.
