EEK! I tripped and fell.

I was carrying a sleeping 18 month old from the van to the house this afternoon and I tripped and fell over the neighbor's cat. He likes to walk right in front of people's feet to get attention and usually I know he is there so I am careful, but I didn't even see him today.

I twisted to the side so that that my DS Wyatt wouldn't hit the ground, but I landed on my hip/side of my stomach. It is tender and really hurts in the ligament on that side like a charlie horse in the muscle. I haven't had any bleeding or any more contractions than normal. (I've been having preterm labor for over a week now on and off.) I called the doctor's office and am waiting for a call back. I do have an appointment tomorrow morning. I have felt her move once since it happened (about 30 minutes ago). I am drinking some juice right now to see if I can get her moving a bit more for my own peace of mind. A strange side symptom seems to be that my face starts to tingle and feel numb everytime I sit down. I'm not sure what that is all about. :

Do you think I should go in the L&D to be checked out? I think I'm fine, but I wouldn't want to chance anything. Our LO's are pretty well padded in there aren't they?

Ugh that darn cat!!!

Ouch! Stupid cat!

If it were me, I wouldn't be going into L&D, but I would call my CP (like you did). Seems like everything is fine if you're not having bleeding/contrx and little one is moving like normal. I'd just want some peace of mind from my CP and to see if they had any suggestions or concerns.

Hope you feel better soon!

Sorry! It couldn't hurt to call and tell them, but if you don't start feeling contractions or pain then you're probably okay. Keep an eye on things and take it easy!

I wouldn't go in if it were me, especially since you have an appt tomorrow. Maybe try to get in today just to ease your mind if you're needing that. I fell a couple of months ago onto my belly. I was really sore, but baby was moving fine, they're pretty well padded in there! Going to L&D this late in pregnancy not ready to push a baby out scares me.

I hope that you feel better!

OUCHIES!!! Hope you get to feelng better!! ((hugs)) I personally wouldn't go in, but that's just me. As long as there's no bleeding, contractions, and the LO is moving I'd stay home.

Thanks for the replies!

I did end up going into L&D to go on the monitors for a bit because I was having contractions 3-5 minutes apart. They also did a blood test to make sure that the baby's blood wasn't in my blood. I guess that is an indication of a placental tear.

Heartrate stayed good, contractions stayed steady and didn't get any closer or stronger so I went home around 7. In a way it was a big waste of time, but it was good for my peace of mind. I don't have to go in for my appt. this morning because I saw my doctor yesterday.

Baby is very active this morning and I am fine other than being really sore on my hip/round ligament where I fell.

Glad to hear your doing ok. Falls late in pregnacy are scary. My sister took a tumble down my stairs carring my oldest ( 2yr old then) He ended up with a huge goose egg on his forhead from the banister and 2wks later when her son was born he did have some ( ok alot) of meconium they though it did stress him when she fell..

Take it easy ( if you can with having a little one )

I fell very close to term with DS, just turned my ankle over in my garden, and sat down hard. He was fine.

I fell yesterday, walking in my lawn. Crunched my ankle really bad, but LO seems fine. I hope you feel good soon, and I wouldn't worry too much about the BB.
