Finally able to NEST! Tweet Tweet

Dh and I have been sharing the guestroom at my parents while he and my dad finish a small apartment in the basement for us. It's been cramped, but I've just put up with the close quarters, and I've been anticipating the day that I could unpack my baby things and primp my nest.

This project has been delayed several times, and I was told last week that there was no way I would be able to move-in before the baby comes. Frustrated nester that I have been, I insisted that we get our bed out of storage (and take a match to the sleeper sofa we've been sleeping on for five months), or else I was going to have a serious mental breakdown.

So FINALLY, after broken-down trucks and a lot of heartache, yesterday I spent all day moving boxes and washing linens, and at 10pm our bed was home, assembled, and made up with clean linens. : They also brought me a big bookcase.

At 6am this morning the great nesting began.

Today I:
-washed and folded all the laundry.
-moved furniture
-swept
-dusted
-assembled small shelf
-rechecked birth kit and packed all needed items in a basket
-unpacked all the baby gear
-organized all baby items by size
-packed away unneeded baby items like toys
-got creative with accesible storage for baby items like sheets, blankets, and etc
-organized my "nursing corner"
-assembled gifts for 3 upcoming baby showers
-made a list of things I'd like to get before the baby comes (not much at all)
-organized supplies to write thank you notes this evening

This morning:

As you can see I still have a lot to do, but I feel 1000000% better now. The mw is coming for her home supplies check tomorrow, and I am actually proud to have someone see where we live now!

Fabulous!!!!!
Congratulations, you must feel so accomplished!
I'm in the same boat, waiting for dh to finish his workshop so that he can move it out of the house and into the new space. His old workshop will be our little nesting room. I never had one with dd, so I'm super psyched. I've got a few more weeks to wait with no guarantees either, though. but my fingers are crossed!

It looks great - you really have accomplished so much! I was feeling so frustrated for you when I started reading the post... I have been feeling much the same way and I feel so relieved and relaxed for you now that you have so much done :

That's great. It's frustrating to sit & wait. We just moved & I had to wait until the move was done before I could do anything & so far all I've had time to do is unpack.

That is so great! I've been so impressed all along with your positive attitude about this whole situation. I had to sleep on a pullout sofa for two weeks during my first pregnancy and I was dying! You're really making the best of everything, and I think the room looks fantastic. I especially love the bookshelf loaded with baby supplies. I'm thinking I might want to copy that idea and put something like that in our office, since right now we don't have much space for baby stuff.

Also, the first time I read the first paragraph I read the last sentence as "pimp my nest." I totally want to pimp my nest, and deck out the pack-n-play with gold wheels and faux leopard fur.

Lol I want spinning rims for my glider!

Thanks everybody. I am just so inspired that I've been "pimping" other parts of the house. Now I really just need to do that bathroom!!
