health at every size!

i've been lurking in this forum for a while. i guess because i've been exercising lot lately or something. but i haven't really found a place here where i feel like i would fit yet. so, i'm starting this thread.

basically, i feel the healthiest i've ever felt in my life. i feel GREAT. i'm definitely not the thinnest i've ever been in my life, but i'm happy with the way i look and loving myself. this is all really new to me. in the past i've obsessed over my weight or size and been too depressed to exercise.

so now i'd like to have a thread here like the other threads here about exercising, motivating each other to exercise, eat healthy, etc, but without all the negative self talk i see so much. i really truly believe it's more about how you feel.

anyone care to join me? (please!!!)

What a fantastic idea! I gots ta get a wii fit, but I'll join in! I feel so much better when I take time to tend to my body each day---to sit in stillness and to move and express my own strength.

As a fat woman, there is that hurdle to get through because so much of the focus of physical well-being is put on the number on the scale of the tag of the jeans. I find that I am hesitant to talk too much about my physical work because, at least IRL, it gets boiled down to "oh, how much do you want to lose" or "I know this thing that burns the most calories." I don't want to lose or burn or whatever. I want to shake my money maker and have fun!

So, yeah, I'm here! I'm fat!! And I exercise!!!

woohoo! hey, dawningmama. thanks for joining me!

love the wii fit. if anything, i'm having fun with it. that, and DDR. woot.

i agree about the focus part. i want to refocus on me feeling good. i am mostly exercising because it really does kick my depression in the ass.

i went to a gym once (this was years ago when i was pregnant with ds1-) and the whole routine in the beginning of joining up and asking me my goals and all. i said i just wanted to feel good and be healthy. the woman told me i needed to cut calories and take aerobics classes. i was pregnant and nursing at the time and i told her that and she still insisted on the cutting calories! what a bunch of crap.

so, back to my point. i did some walking outside today (always good to get sunshine when i can!) and did some wii fit. not as much as i wanted to, cause the old dp had to leave and the baby always seems to want to be held. but i'm feeling good about it.

my arms are totally getting strong because baby hates the sling. my other kids always loved the sling and my arms atrophied into nothing because i never carried them in my arms, lol. but now i have actual muscles.

alright then, dawningmama. i guess it's just you and me.

so, i exercised for a whole hour yesterday. that's really big for me. i am normally a 20 minute kind of girl. the cool part was, i was having fun and didn't even really notice that i was taking so long. i only stopped cause the baby woke up.

That's awesome, delish! Go you!!

I have not done a ton of working out, but I'm going to get into some yoga positions today. My back has been hurting from all the 'puter time in bed and my neck and shoulders ache from the yarn arts work I've been doing.
