I need a good chiro in Oak park area for DH.
We don't have insurance if that matters.
Oak Brook, Hinsdale, Brookfield areas are good too. I want to find an experienced and holistic chiropractor who can identify a problem and treat it, with experience with back problems. Please recommend a good chiro in the area.

I really love Dr. Manning. I saw him through my 2nd pregnancy and am still seeing him weekly. I used to have terrible problems with my back. Chronic pain. Couldn't even lean over to brush my teeth in the morning.

I have NO back pain anymore. I have NO knee pain anymore. I have NO more migraines or cluster headaches.

I really think he's the bomb!

Dr. Manning is a prenatal chiropractor. Imagine my husband's face when he walked in and while waiting, was the only adult male, others were either kids or preg. women. ) He went there twice and still they didn't do any adjustments, just test and then talking
Since we don't have insurance, we pay cash. Dr. Manning charges $50 per adjustment that could be anywhere between 5 to 20 minuts plus test every other month, each about $100. That totals to almost $2.300 payable in 3-4 months. That's a little over that what we expected.
Any thoughts if that's the price any chiro would charge?
Any recommendations on chiros in west burbs?
Thanks a lot!

He always does testing first. I would feel uncomfortable with someone who jumped right in- you know? That's how my husband got so injured by a chiro in California.

Yes- he specializes in prenatal (you are on a mothering board- LOL) but he does great work with guys too.

I think he has other pricing structures... ask about that. There's some package stuff.

I'm sure the number of testings can be discussed. I think he's just looking for "improvements"... so he can tailor his care... not sure

Very standard for Dr. Manning. First appointment is a testing consultation, second appointment is a discussion of the results and the proposed course of treatment. I'd be concerned with doctor that just jumped right in and didn't actually evaluate me and discuss the results with me and the course of treatment.

As the pp post stated, prenatal and infants are areas in which he specializes, but he treats entire families.

Oh, and testing every other month must be particular to your husband's situation. As for me, I've been seeing him on and off for about 3 years and if I've gone more than, I *think* it's 3 mos without seeing him, he wants to re-evaluate. It could be longer, I just don't remember. I'm currently seeing him 2 x's a week and simply asked if I could pay twice a month rather than per visit and he was fine with that.

I've been to another chiro, Dr. Susan Mardoian, but she's in the Skokie area, I think. She uses the little gun "thingy" (very technical term, I know) and is more of a holistic doctor in that she prescribes herbs, floral essences and thought exercises, etc. to assist in your treatment. I really liked her. Just a bit far for me.

I really like Cheryl Haugh in Oak Park. I've seen her off and on for the last 15 years. I usually only need periodic adjustments; however, during my pregnancy last year I had a lot of trouble. She really helped me out and isn't big on pushing tests or making her patients sign contracts as some of the other chiros I've seen in the past. The phone number is 708-848-9900. Her office is on South Oak Park Ave. just down from the Ale House.
