New vaccine coming up, child type 1 diabetes - Page 2

My DH was diagnosed Type 1 diabetic at 13 months old.

If they came out with a vaccine against it no way in hell I'd get it for my children. NEVER. EVER. My DH has also said that if they came out with a cure tomorrow he would NOT participate, he has been diabetic for over 27 years, it would be too much of a shock to his system.

I am well aware that there are babies on insulin pumps. My son was one of them.
I'm sorry, I honestly didn't mean to be insensitive to you and to your family.
My uncle died at age 38 from complications of diabetes, and my DD was dx'd at age 5-1/2.

You know, that's an interesting POV. I'm completely blind in one eye (since birth, I have underdeveloped optic nerves), and people have always asked me, would have that corrected if it were possible? I've always said no, because I'm afraid of what a shocking adjustment that would be after 43 years of compensating with just one (very nearsighted) eye.
