Concerning Polio- Need advice ASAP please

DH is in India for work until Friday the 17th. He chose to get the Polio booster shot. I know that he can still carry the virus with him. I also have a gut feeling that his chance of even coming into contact with the virus is low because he is only going to and from the guest house and work.

DS was vaccinated against Polio but DD was not. I am just worried that I'd be making a mistake as a mother by not vaccinating DD against Polio.

If I took her in for the shot would it even work so late? I'd rather her not have the vaccine but I also need to take care of her in the best way that I know how.

here are my thoughts about polio....

1) the oral polio vax (OPV) was probably effective but was also the only cause of polio in the US for a long time.
2) the new IPV (injective, dead) polio vax has never been tested during a polio outbreak. the theory is that ppl vaxed w/ the IPV will catch polio but will not develop paralytic symptoms, which have always been rare anyway.
3) the gov has guidelines calling for re-vaccination w/ the old OPV if there is an out break of polio. why give the IPV if anyone who has it is going to have to be revaxed?
4) a lot of what was considered paralytic polio in the past was actually poisoning or another virus. when polio is diagnosed by a blood test instead of my observations of symptoms, suddenly the rates go down. no polio vax will prevent "paralytic polio" that isn't caused by the polio virus.

I was just looking for another thread on this, I thought I had seen one recently about the vax and travel to India. Can't find it.

I thought it was just pertussis and diphtheria that could transmit though vaxed...
