electric toothbrush?

I am just wondering what other parents think about using an electric toothbrush with their toddler (my dd is now 16 months old).

Teeth brushing has been a struggle in our house, as I am sure it is in many houses. Although I am not completely comfortable with using an electric toothbrush with such a young child, I am thinking it is better than not brushing teeth to my satisfaction with a natural toothbrush. We have been bouncing back and forth between a silicone 1st toothbrush and a toothbrush with natural bristles, but unfortunately neither are being used to their potential as it is such a struggle to brush teeth. We are compensating by following a very strict diet (no sugar, no juice, just a whole food vegetarian diet), but in my heart I know that is not sufficient.

Thanks for any ideas or info!

We use one. I think it's great! We use an Oral-B, the brush heads are pretty small and available with extra soft bristles. My dd tolerates it better than a manual brush. She likes to have her tongue tickled.

Thanks for sharing! We decided last night to buy a super soft bristle had for our electric toothbrush for dd and it does seem to be what works best!

Oral - B

I use an electric oral - b too. It cleans better than the normal toothbrushes but it is very expencive. How much does a electric toothbrush cost in us? The one i use (gift from my father) costs over 50 euros

I have an Oral-B one too but a less expensive one. The one I got is the Vitality and it was on sale for $19.99 at Rite-Aid. Rite-Aid makes brush heads that go with it and they were on sale too. http://www.oralb.com/us/products/power/vitality/

I got it because it was rechargeable (as opposed to replacing batteries all the time) and you can just replace the brush head instead of having to toss the whole brush like those kids' ones by Crest or whoever.

feelinghealthy - Oral-B makes a few different brushes. Your father must have gotten you one of the really nice ones.
