So where is the appeal in this?

I'm attempting my first go round with 2 socks on one circ. Ummm....where is the appeal? Now granted I only have one full round done on each sock but good grief this bites. Awkward and bumbly and way more work just getting started and past that first round than should be necessary.

It does get better right? Or is the appeal a complete pair when I'm done and the process will suck regardless?

SOme people just don't like magic loop period. Some people just don't like 2 sox at once on magic loop. Some people love magic loop in any way or fashion.

I love ML but haven't done 2 at once on it; I do LOVE doing 2 at once on 2 circs though. For me it is way quicker than DPNs will ever be, no needles to drop into the magic pit of darkness and no SSS

After looking at the "2 at once" patterns, I've often wondered this myself.

But then, I LOVE knitting in the round on dpns.

So do I!! I have loved it since I first started knitting.

Ok I have about 10ish rounds done so far. It's growing on me. I think that initial set up and awkwardness was just getting to me. My first time trying ML was on a needle out of my Boye set and then a Susan Bates needle. Both suck. This time I have a brand spanking fresh Addi Turbo. I'm sure that helps. At the very least this will be an interesting learning experience. I would have preffered to do 2 on 2 but was limited on moola and needles are spendy! Good grief. I know what I should start making.

The appeal is that you're done with both at once! No SSS! (for some of us, we need that to get over the hump.) exhibit A, the yellow and green sock in my Ravelry. Done separately, it has now been mateless for near a year (though that will end soon. as soon as I find the original, so I know how high to make the leg part......) so yeah, both done at once is HUGE!

I was telling my sister about it and she said she could see the appeal. How many complete pairs did I have/ I pointed out completed was relative since technically I had multiple pairs. She pointed out a complete pair implies that they match..

I've gotta say, I like my knit picks needles better than my Addi turbo for magic loop, and they're WAY cheaper, even with shipping.

Good to know. I bought these last month while on our anniversary trip. I love Addi's. My cable has gotten better as I go too. I think it needs breaking iin which sucks.

I would really like to give ML a try but I'm a little intimidated!

It's easy! It's that initial setup that is sort of tricky/finicky.

Here's the page I used...everything else assumed you knew how to cast on so they only had text. This clicked instantly for me.

I really like ML'ing socks--I don't mind DPNs, but it's easier to throw my sock in my bag in a hurry with ML, my dog doesn't eat metal needles (my DPNs are bamboo), and I don't get any ladders with ML (sometimes I do when I get lazy with DPNs).

I haven't tried 2 at once--I probably really should, because I get SSS before I'm 2 inches into the first sock .

I love DPNs but for some projects doing them 2 at a time is nice. The beginning is always a trial (at least for me) but once I get going I am reminded why it's worth it.

2 at once is the ONLY way I can get through socks. That first inch or so is very frustrating if you have crappy cables on your needles, but it's otherwise a very smooth process. Glad it's growing on you!!

Funny..maybe it's because I'm doing 2 at once but every time I have to set them down to do something my first thought it: "This sure takes away the portability appeal!". It just seems like so much is going on.

I am liking it though. I'm done with the ribbing and am figuring out what I want for the leg.

sss and lo's don't take the dpns and use them as swords when you set the project down.
