I'm hoping this is the appropriate forum...

I have to do a school paper on ethics and animals. I know you guys will know some really great books on the subject, so this is a plea for help!
lol, thank you!

are you looking for ethical treatment? if so, there are so many books... you must start with the animal liberation by peter singer, you're prob familiar with this. then mad cowboy, by howard lyman about a rancher who won't eat meat. there are so many more... just cant think of them at the moment. try PETA's web site for more book titles. oh, what about the jungle by upton sinclair about the food industry, it's old but interesting and some of it still holds true to today. good luck.

I would avoid Singer. Honestly, I find his belief system remarkably contradictory (euthanize children and the elderly [except for his own mother, apparently-- seriously] but don't eat animals. Anyone who can say,
"simply killing an infant is never equivalent to killing a person"...

Anyway: I have heard good things about this one:

I really liked this one:

Meat Market: Animals, Ethics and Money by Erik Marcus

his other book is called The Ethics of Eating. I have not read it though.

Mad Cowboy is a great book, but doesn't go into a lot of details about the ethics/morals of eating meat. It's great to get folks to think about their consumption of animals for other reasons, however.
Although it's a memoir, Committed by Dan Mathews is a really good book. Other media that I like are the films "Earthlings" and "Meet your Meat"
I'm going to have to check out the Erik Marcus books...thanks for the link!
