Asking to be induced - Page 2

Not in your club, but barging in because I noticed the PUPPPs. My first was an induction due it. I was beyond miserable and hadn't slept in 3 days because the itching was so horrible. I sat down in the doctor's office and just started crying. I just wanted him out so that I could begin to function again as a human being. He was born and I felt better almost immediately. It was the most amazing relief.

I will say that I was visited by quite a few doctors, nurses and interns during the process. They were curious and my symptoms were so severe that I was a good example for teaching. It didn't bother me at all - I'd have been willing to have 100 people look at me and ask me questions if it would mean that 100 more medical people would understand it and be able to help future women, you know? But...I know that not everyone feels that way, so be prepared in case the visitors start.

I'm so sorry to hear how miserable you are. It's been almost 7 years and I still shudder when I think about it. Birth is such an immense relief - at least it was for me.

I was induced with #1 due to PIH. It was not a horrible experience, although I had quite a few interventions that I wouldn't want again (not due to the induction). I'm looking forward to going into labor spontaneously with this baby, but if I were in your shoes, I'd probably want to be induced, too. I'm so sorry that you are feeling so poorly and just want to wish you the best!

I was induced twice, due to gestational diabetes. I actually posted here a few weeks ago, before my second induction, looking for support, and everyone had lots of kind words and good advice.

I actually had a fantastic experience with my second birth, last week. I went in the night before and was given cervadil, but it didn't put me into labor. The next morning we started with pitocin. I had an epidural (I knew from experience that the contractions from the pit were too much for me to handle). My ob broke my waters late, maybe a couple hours before the actual birth (I didn't want her to do this until the last possible moment). My dd was born around 4 in the afternoon. In spite of everything, I felt very much in control during the whole labor, and the epidural helped me deal with the pain but didn't take away sensation altogether. I recovered quickly from the epi and didn't feel drugged or out of it.

In an ideal world, I would love to experience natural childbirth, but I had to manage the gestational diabetes. It's hard to give up an idea of the "perfect" labor and birth, but it's still possible to have a great, focused birthing experience when you're induced. Good luck!

I hope baby comes on its own before Monday, but if not, good luck with the induction. You'll be holding your babe soon and will finally have some relief! :
