Baby Legs with sock yarn?

I was thinking last night that some self patterning sock yarn would make some pretty fabulous baby legs for DS. Has anyone made any? I think I could pretty much just wing it without a pattern, but I would love to see some that have already been made up.

I have one of those tube machine thingies that you just turn the crank...I wonder if that is a good size for babylegs? (I bought it in an attempt to avoid hand knitting the 80000 Harry Potter scarves people were requesting, it didn't make them big enough and I didn't end up using it)

It is a toy, like this. They had them at craft store...I think I got it at Michaels?

It was too little for Harry Potter Scarves. Fail.

But it might work for baby legs?

Herm...it appears I made a tangled mess.



Ok it has been awhile since I have messed with this thing and now I remember why. Worsted is a hot mess in it.

It works ok for DK and with sock it is a bit loose.

I will finish off a tube with this recycled sweater yarn (which seems to be about sock to me) I am using then throw it in the washing machine.

I will try some cascade 2020 in there and see if that does better than what I had for worsted..maybe it was too soft??
