I had an internal at my 40 week midwife appt. yesterday. It was the first one so far in the third trimester. I was 1 cm dilated and 50 percent effaced and the midwife commented that I had already lost my mucous plug. I bled a lot of bright red blood during the check and continued to bleed some after wards. She said that was a good sign though and put evening primrose oil on my cervix. She was able to feel the baby's head but said that my cervix was still posterior.
It was exciting to hear that all the contractions over the past weeks have done something. She said she would think in the next week or so.
Has anyone else had similar experiences? This is my first and I am just wondering when my body will finally stop the practice and actually start the real thing. Not that I am impatient or anything LOL.

I think some of us just have very sensitive cervixes and bleed easily when irritated.

Lets hope so!
