Stripping of the membranes?

Anyone have this done and if so how many weeks and what was the out come.

I had it done with DS. I don't remember the exact number of days, but I was at least 40 weeks. Nothing happened as a result. The placenta has started to calcify at 37 weeks so I wanted to do anything I could to try to avoid an induction. He ended up an induction at 42 weeks, but even the pitocin didn't work like it should. He did have signs of post-maturity so I doubt anything short of an eviction would have got him to come out!

I couldn't have my membranes stripped with DD, my second child, since I wasn't even dilated a fingertip at over 40 weeks. I went into the drs on a Monday and wasn't dilated at all. I went into labor on my own Tuesday night. Things can happen on their own pretty fast sometimes!

I've had my membranes stripped repeatedly over the last week or so (I'm 41weeks at the moment). So far I've had very slow cervical progress; no idea whether the membrane stripping has helped or not. It's very soft but not effaced much and not dilated much :\

I was 41W 4D with no signs of labor.
Had it done at 10:30 am. MW said I was already 3cm when she did it & went to 4cm as she went around to strip. She said it was "a perfect cervix" & she was certain it would work!

Sure enough, 2 hours later I had my first contraction & just about 6 hours later, baby was born!

But my doula said if it does NOT work, you can have it done again. Studies show having it done repeatedly can be effective. I told my MW this (was asking her what time to come back if nothing happened) & she said another MW usually says that with 1st time Moms, it often takes 2 times of stripping

The NP stripped mine before 40 weeks- maybe at 39 weeks? I don't remember but it didn't do anything. I choose not to do it again on my due date and DS was born two days later.

I had it done at 40 weeks. I lost my mucous plug the next day I think and I went into labor about a week and a half later.

I had my midwife do it with my second at 41 weeks 5 days as a last-ditch effort to avoid hospital induction. I was already four cm dilated when she did it, and contractions started almost immediately. They continued to be light until the next day at 3 o'clock, when I went into active labor. My daughter was born at 7:48 that evening.

With DD2 I had it done at least once a week from 38 weeks and didn't go into labour until I was nearly 43 weeks. Apparently my cervix was favourable from the get go but nothing happened.

With DD1 I had about 3 and still didn't go labour but that whole thing was a cock up from start to finish.

I had it done at 38 weeks 6 days because my MW was concerned I was developing preeclampsia and I wanted to avoid an induction if possible. Contractions started that evening and I woke up at 3:00 am in active labor, so it seemed to work!

I had it done three times between around 39/40 weeks. I was already 4cm dilated but not effaced. Labor didn't start. I got my waters broken at 40+6 and DD was born 3 hours later.

With DD2 I had it done at 40 weeks with no results (6cm dilated) and they attempted to do it at 40 weeks 6 days but I was 7cm and there was nothing to strip. I went into labor the next morning and had a 2 hour labor.

With DD3, my m/w stripped at 39 weeks 5 days, and she was born at 40 weeks exactly after 10 minutes of active labor (my water had broken 17 hours prior, but nothing really happened all day). When she stripped I had been dilated to 5cm.

My midwife did it at 36 and again at 37 weeks at 4-5cms dialated. I was becoming pre-eclamptic and we wanted to avoid hospital induction. Nothing happened either of those times

It took stripping the membranes plus accupunture to get DD out at 37wks and 6 days.
