Who's Still Nursing?? - Page 2

DS is 34 months old and still nurses during the day (especially upon waking and going to sleep).

Yes! DS does this! It IS maddening!

I tandemed DD and DS for 18 months until DD CLWed at 4.5 years. It was so sweet and so good for their relationship. I mean, yeah, they fight. But it's never like my brother and I were. We hated each other. DD and DS really, really care for each other and I think it's partly their shared time at the breast.

The panickyness might be from the pregnant-nursing combination. When your body is in pure milk-making mode, you might not feel so icky about it.

DS is 2 1/2 and still nursing. Not sure how long we'll go. DD nursed straight through my second pregnancy and we tandem nursed for over a year. It helped that she was night weaned before I was even pregnant again, but I remember parts of it being vary hard -- especially some of the discomfort of nursing in late pregnancy and this frustrating, skin crawling feeling I would sometimes get nursing the older one once the baby was there. Of course, there are a hundred reasons I enjoyed it and was grateful to have that experience.

We're really working to night wean DS, but man is he resistant! I'm not sure how I feel about tandem nursing this time. I hadn't planned for it the first time; I was open to whatever happened. I would like to remain the same for this one, but by the time this babe comes along, I will be going on 7 straight years of being pregnant and/or nursing and never sleeping through the night. It makes me a little tired just to think of it!

I'm still nursing my DD (she'll be 2 next month). I really hope I can keep my supply up for her. I plan on tandem nursing, but don't know if she will like having to hold still when I'm nursing the baby.

Yay - there are so many of us here!

My 22 mo old DD is still nursing - she goes to daycare full time so it's mainly in the morning, evening and throughout the night. I have no plans of weaning her but i am starting to wonder about my milk supply. She seems to be nursing non stop and for longer than before which makes me think there is less milk - poor girl!

Not sure if we'll make it to tandem nursing but I'm all for it if we make it that far! Love that there are so many of us here that are preggo and still nursing - I don't know anybody in real life who has nursed this long.

Still not sure if I belong here or in May, so I'm jumping between the two.
I'm still nursing too. DS2 is 16 mo and still a nursing champ.
Hoping to tandem as well, but we'll see how ds2 feels about that. He's going through a jealous phase.

Yep. As excited as DD is about this baby coming, I think we'll have to do a lot of prepping to explain that nursing will have to change. She wants to switch sides every two minutes, has a twiddling obsession that soothes her, and she likes to play a lot while nursing. I'll just wait to see if we make it to the third trimester before talking to her about changes.

I'm in the same boat but my DS is 7 months. This pregnancy was a total accident. In fact, DH has an appointment with the urologist for a vasectomy consult on Friday. We were done since between the two of us we have 5 kids already. Turns out someone out there had other plans. DS is still nursing but we've started him on solids. I have no idea how I'm going to juggle nursing a newborn alongside a 15 month old.

Glad there are other people still nursing a really little baby!! I honestly don't know that we will be able to do the tandeming thing... I am hoping that Trevor will self wean once he hits a year, because I didn't like nursing just him when he was a bitty baby, I can't imagine doing it with a baby and a 13 month old!!

I am still nursing, but it's a totally different situation since my son is 4 and only nurses once a day for about a minute. But wow does his big head laying on my boobs hurt!

My dd was 2 in Aug and is still nursing quite a bit. I am not planning to wean her but it's getting pretty uncomforable for me, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I was still nursing ds#1 while pg with #2 and I stopped because it got painful so I don't know what will happen this time. He was almost 2 and did fine with weaning then. I think my dd would be fine too, but I hate to wean her especially since this pg was unplanned and I didn't want to have to wean her before she was ready to be done nursing.

Me too! I had to cut my little one back in order to conceive. She'd nurse all day at 20months if I let her. We are currently nursing around 5x/day. She is not night weaned either.

I am hoping she cuts back some on her own in the next few months. I am glad to hear that others feel minor contractions while nursing b/c they were scaring me a bit.

I'm glad you are all here and we can chat!

My daughter will be three the day after tomorrow and yup, she's still nursing with no plans to stop anytime soon. Whether or not we tandem will just be up to whether or not she's still nursing by June, I suppose.

Don't beat yourself up for not being able to do EVERYTHING! We are all different. I had a friend who could tandem nurse like it was nothing. My aunt tried and she felt like she was going to crawl out of her skin. Right now, my breasts are so sore, I cannot imagine nursing. You are clearly sensitive to your son's need to continue nursing, but you have another baby to grow, and maybe your body just is not equipped to handle both full time. It sounds like you just need a bit of a break, though. If the sippy cup and solids could help you out, maybe you could hang in there for the long haul.

I'm still nursing! My DS is almost 28 months and really only nurses in the AM. He's not quite ready to give that one up yet though! We'll see if things change as the pregnancy progresses!

Still nursing a boobie-crazed 27 month old. He is completely night weaned and nurses mainly for comfort so I'm hoping I can keep it up throughout. I think it would be pretty magical to tandem nurse!

Thank you It is just so hard because I don't want to feel like I am sacrificing what is best for Trevor just because we are having another baby!! But at the same time I know me being a monstrous b*tch isn't going to be good for him either.. blurgh.

I am nursing my 14 month old, and every time she comes up to me and says "bite" or "want some" It makes my skin crawl . Dd is nursing every couple hours at night and about 4 times during the day.

My nipples hurt soooooo bad

I am still nursing my 25 month old. I plan to tandem nurse.

DS1 was 3.5 years old when DS2 was born. I tandem nursed for about a year. It was difficult at times, but it was worth it for me. I cherish those memories.

I am nursing my 17 month old. I am very sure my milk has changed already. He reacts to it differently.. I also think it is decreasing in volume. I have been trying to give him more solids and offering hin other "milks" to drink, but so far he is not that interested.

If we hang in there, I plan on tandum nursing. But right now I just want my bed to myself.
