Oh how I love coconut oil

In the kitchen, in the bedroom, in the bathroom.

It is by FAR the best discovery I have made since coming to the Natural Body Care section.

It's great in cooking - we use it place of Crisco and butter.

It's even better in the bedroom. Lasts and lasts. Doesn't dry out or get sticky.

Absolute BOMB for my dry skin. I've had fewer rosacea flare ups since starting coconut oil. And it's replaced my need for petroleum products like Aquaphor for my dry skin.

My family, my food, and my husband thank you Coconut oil.

I agree...wonderful stuff! Really affordable too considering how much bedroom supplies and body care stuff can run these days.

Yep! I'm sensitive to chemicals and commercial lubes irritate me. Coconut oil ROCKS. I haven't had any problems with it. :

Oh my gosh...yes. It's so much nicer than expensive lubes. It's just...well...silky. It doesn't dry out. It doesn't get sticky.

I have REALLY sensitive skin issues.....and I have no problem with Coconut oil.

Now...if you have a coconut allergy I wouldn't reccommend it...but otherwise....have fun!

I love the stuff too!
Good to know about the bedroom use! I've been meaning to switch to something more natural and I've got it in the cupboard already!

If you use it in the bedroom- please make sure not to use it while using condoms as they can break!

So unless you are planning to make your family bigger or can be sure that your partner and yourself are healthy, please don´t use coconut (or any other oil) in connection with condoms.

This is the best thing I have read all week, maybe all year! I love this forum!

CO is the best thing for my dry scalp/flaking issues. I also love using it on my lips.

For really good popcorn, use 1/4 cup olive oil, 1 tbsp CO and 2/3 cups popcorn. Best popcorn in the world!!

I had no idea you could use it in the bedroom. I use to sell adult *toys* and in the training was told that oil based lubes would cause an infection. So, good to know.

how does this work? my scalp has been dry & itchy and I also suffer from eczema.

I use coconut oil every day, from head to toe, I slather it on right after my shower, sometimes with a little essential oil mixed in, it's a good carrier oil. I put it on my face, and at the very end of all this, I rub my hands through my wet hair and on scalp.

This has been my only skin care for over 5 years and I really like the condition of my skin at 41. I think it has a lot to do with using all natural, no chemicals.

In addition, when you make popcorn, if you like to have a little "butter" on top of your popcorn, you can melt a little extra CO, drizzle it on and sprinkle with sea salt, it's AWESOME that way.

I just *knew* there was a reason I was cruising MDC instead of doing my work, hahahah! I am putting together a Frontier order for my local moms group, looks like I need to add CO to my list!! Will CO help with psoriasis of the scalp? I thought I tried everything...

Every once in a while, when the itching is really bad and I can't take it any more, I take melted CO and put it on my scalp. My hair gets really greasy-looking, but it's ok, because I do it at night before I go to bed. I put a towel on my pillow, so I don't ruin the pillow case, and sometimes on the sheets around my pillow. In the morning, I wash my hair as usual and style.

I tend to get flakes and have the most problems on my temples, just above the hair line. After most showers, I take a small amount of CO and rub it on my temples, where the flakes are. I do this while my hair is still wet, because it doesn't seem to make my hair look as greasy, like it does when my hair is dry. After a few days, the flakes are gone and so I think I don't have to keep doing that, but lo and behold, they come back if I don't keep it up.

HTH!

I've been using coconut oil as a deodorant. It works better then the Kiss My Face deodorant I'd tried when I made the decision that I should really stop using anti-perspirants!

I also love CO!!!

It's the ONLY thing that stops my cold sores in their tracks - seriously. I've tried everything for my cold sores/fever blisters - prescription, over the counter creams, etc. and coconut oil is the best.

whenever I feel one coming on, I use a q-tip to rub it on my lip pretty firmly (not breaking the skin, though) and then I'll also slather it on my whole body - for some reason, that seems to really work, too - I guess it gets absorbed. I also make smoothies with a tablespoon of CO in them to combat the cold sore. Usually, the cold sores don't even end up appearing if I catch them early enough and do this little treatment.

It's the best!!!

I have tried this too. But it did not work so well when it got a bit warmer or if I was working out. I do put peppermint in my CO just to cover up the coconut smell. I have a love hate relationship with it. But I do love how silky it makes the skin feel and I use it daily.
