homebirth / birth center / obgyn

Hi i recently moved to southern california and was planning a natural birth preferably at a birth center however i live in long beach area and was looking for something close by anyone has any experience with a good midwife ( for home birth), birth center or obgyn (hospital) who practices natural birth? I have fibroids and ovarian cyst and the only midwife i spoke to was hesitant with home birth because in her experience pregnant women with fibroids have a lot of bleeding, that is why i'm thinking to go in the direction of a birth center or obgyn(hospital) that advocates natural childbirth. ( i really want to go in the direction of water birth) but any natural birth with an experienced midwife or obgyn will be good. Any help will be very much appreciated.

I think that your best bet is to go to a birth center where you can have your gentle water birth and yet still have the medical care for your condition. Bleeding happens quickly. The outcomes are best when you get quick access to treatment for you and baby.

Costs of private midwives are expensive.
Birth centers are very cheap in comparison.

An FSBC may not really be best here, though. They can't do much more than a HBMW (a hospital transfer would still be required in an emergency), and often have stricter conditions. If the MW is really concerned about bleeding, I would look at a hospital based CNM. An OB isn't your only option for hospital care. This would offer you a more natural birth, but the benefits of hospital in case you do need it.

I had a practice of 3 hospital-based CNMs & they were super-natural CB friendly! One even talked about how great the Bradley method is! They even have a tub to labor in! (Although they won't let you deliver in it.)
