If you want to find out if your registration is correct, here's the link:
Check out the front page of the New York Times and the News and Observer. The state of North Carolina has eliminated almost 400,000 registered voters from its rolls. (Apparently the error occurred while striving to comply with 2004 laws.) It affects all parties. You can go to this website to check and see if you are still registered:
http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/VoterLookup.aspx
N.C. to change the way it vets its new voters
and also these:
Last minute registrations swell voter rolls
Voter removals appear to be illegal
Friday is the last day to register to vote. Well, sort of.
However, you can also register during early one-stop voting from Oct 16-Nov 1 (ending before the election Nov 4). I would think this would apply if your registration was incomplete or incorrect as well as being purged.
The thing is, this is not only in NC, but also Ohio and other swing states. Check the "Voter removals" link which is the NYT story as reprinted in the N&O. I don't know what the other states' registration policies are and if they have the grace period of one stop early voting/registration that we do.
