We got the call this AM for our first foster placement! They are developmentally in-range, healthy, and not drug exposed, and will probably have inconsistent visitation because of the family situation. They are 5- & 18- months old, which is right at the perfect age for us - DP loves the 1 1/2 -3 range and I am a baby lover... Ok, so really, we LOVE all ages... ahem... we LOVE MOST ages (8-16 is NOT for me!!!!
), but our greatest strengths fall from birth to around three... We pretty excited.
They will be moving from a kinship placement, with five other children, to our home, with no other children, probably by the end of this week.
We should get the call about the FSRP meeting monday-ish (we'll be phone confrenced in), then meet the kinship family/visit kids, then start transitioning them home.
I'm feeling guilty again for being excited because the birth family (and kinship family)'s situation allow us to have a placement... I'm immagining that this will change after a few kidlets, and I'm sure it's just the excitement for the unknown, and I'm sure that eventually, we'll get the call and not feel like giddy school girls... But for now,
