What do your children think you're having?

For those who have told your other kids about the pregnancy... What do they think you're having or want you to have?

Joshua wants a baby sister. He's been telling me this for months. He already has a baby brother, so he thinks he has to have a baby sister next (even though a friend of his has two baby sisters... he expected the recent baby to be a brother, since his friend didn't have one yet). I'm actually a bit worried that he'll be disappointed if this baby is a boy. But we'll see. I'm hoping he'll have a baby sister so I can sew cute little girly dresses. But of course I love boys too, and love how they play together.

DD has told me twice that it is a boy. Of course, I am not really convinced that she knows the difference between boys and girls, so I'm sure she'll be fine either way.

DD is just SO excited about having a baby that she doesn't care about the sex. She seems to think babies are androgynous anyway. I try to refer to the baby as her or him randomly, and whenever I say the baby might be ____ sex, DD says, "or baby could be [opposite sex]". I don't think she cares, as long as baby plays dollhouse with her, shares her rocking chair, holds hands with her while nursing, plays peek-a-boo with her, and shares her swing set. This baby has a lot to live up to!

We just told our kids this morning. Our oldest DS wants a boy and our DD wants a girl. Our youngest DS is too young to know what's going on! We're kind of hoping for a girl so DD can have a sister and not be surrounded by boys, but of course we'll be happy with whatever we get!

This thread reminded me of a funny story, so I am totally going to hijack for a minute Our surro explained to her son what she was doing for us, and she thought he understood it all. Then she heard him talking to his friend the next day and the friend's mom is also pregnant. He said to his friend "My mom is going to have a baby too, but for her friends, not for us. It will be a white baby so she has to drink a lot of milk!". Suddenly she realized a little biology lesson was in order!! Kids are so cute!

We just told our kids last night! They are both super excited! My son who is 7 was shocked to hear that he would have to wait until next June to meet the baby!! LOL!

My DS wants a brother and my DD wants a sister!! My DD and DH both think the baby will be a girl. I don't think my DS really has an opinion yet. So far everyone that we have told is hoping this baby is a girl.

Duncan is always the first person I tell! hehe
Last cycle he told me I was having a sitter (sister hehe).....I know he doesnt know what a sister or brother is, but his best friend has a new baby sister and we talk about her so I think thats where he got that idea from.
He just says 'I have a baby in dher' (hehe) though really.

dd is only 18 mos., so she just thinks it's a baby the funny thing about that is that dd is who promted me to test. she pointed to my belly and kept saying "bebe, bebe?" she knows what a belly button is, but she says "buh buh" for belly button, so that wasn't it. i thought, "huh, i wonder why she thinks my belly is a baby." she has an obsession with babies, and anytime she sees a car seat or stroller when we're out and about she calls out "bebe, bebe!!" anyways. so, after a couple days of dd calling my belly "bebe" i poas at 10 dpo or so, and lo and behold, it was a bfp!! so i told her about the baby in my belly right away and she looked at me like "duh mom!" and just shook her head 'yes'. ever since then she's been lifting my shirt, saying "hiiiiiiii" or "bebe". she also kisses my belly when i tell her the baby wants a kiss from his big sister. i don't know if there really was something to it or if it's a total fluke and i'm reading waaay more into it than i should.

Aaron was saying baby for my belly button too, and it did make me wonder recently. Although his "belly button" sounds kind of like "bee bee", so it's so hard to tell. Talking is not his strong point yet!

DS1 wants a sister (and has since we were preggo with ds2), ds2 wants a yoda, and ds3 doesn't want a baby at all

Of course, we are hoping for a girl, but are expecting a boy. I guess we will find out in June!

My daughter wants a sister, my son has no clue what's going on. My husband thinks it's a girl. Just about everyone thinks we're having another girl, but I think I want another boy. I'll be happy with either of course.

DD wants them both to be girls, but that's what she wants, not what she foresees (I've heard of kids just knowing, but that's not the case here).
Hmm...

I haven't told the kids but my four year old has been saying "mummy, there's a babys in your belly and it's two boys"!!!

He also told me that there was a baby in my belly a week before I got my test!!!

I feel like age 4 is probably the most intuitive age. Especially after reading some of these posts. Wow.

My kids all agree that they want twins, a boy and girl. Right now we have a tie in genders in the house so they are unanimous in agreement that we must not upset the gender balance.

Except the youngest, who insists "NO! I da baby!"
