White spot on 2-year-old's front tooth

My 2-year-old dd has a white spot on the side of one of her front teeth. What is that? She has no dark spots and we usually brush her teeth 2 times a day (and she plays with the toothbrush all the time and chews on it). I was thinking that flourosis caused white spots but the only times that she's ever had flouride was when she got some of our toothpaste (I accidentally bought some Tom's that had flouride in it).

She hasn't seen a dentist yet - is the recommended age 3? I can't imagine how they could even get her to open her mouth at this point.

Also, does anyone have any really good links that are anti-flouride? Our ped is pushing prescription flouride drops. I thought the AAP was anti flouride before 3?

Is your water fluoridated? I applaud you for resisting fluoride. This is a great website and the book is awesome.

Funny story I have been wanting to share with someone who could appreciate it. I babysit a 2 yo, and when his dad was walking me through his routine, said that he has to take a fluoride pill because they have well water (so it's not fluoridated). But that he is not old enough for fluoride toothpaste, because he could swallow it (which is unsafe, of course). Anyone see a problem with this logic?????

My kids' dentist had them start coming in at 2. You'd be surprised how good (and fast!) some pediatric dentists are at checking out 2 year olds' teeth. See if there's a pediatric dentist around and call and ask them about it.
