TIG ingredients?

What exactly is in TIG? Does anyone know?

Our ped is ok with not vaxing but did make a comment about how he felt that the DTaP was less risky than a TIG if she needed something acutely to prevent. I know it's a blood product, but is there anything else in it?

I don't know if what your pedi said was true, but what are the chances of your child actually needing the TIg? He thinks you should give a series of shots to prevent a disease that your child may or may not contract? Seems kind of silly to me.

I'll take my chances with TIg if I should need it.

Me too on taking the chances. Considering that there are less than 40 cases of tetanus a year, and my kids aren't running around barnyards or likely to be in war zones, I'm really feeling okay with them not having any sort of dtp.

On top of that, the tig itself is given automatically in emergency situations if the personnel have cause to suspect that immunizations are incomplete or if older people have lost immunity. There is no greater danger of reaction, the difference is that tig is mostly plasma and more likely to transmit virus. That's my understanding anyway.
