Contractions today

So I'm sort of puzzled about what to do. I did something I shouldn't have...had a cup of red raspberry leaf tea. It makes my uterus contract, but I hadn't tried any since early 2nd trimester...so I thought it might be different. NOT.

Ever since, all day long, I've had HARD contractions about 20-30 minutes apart. I had a teeny bit of mucus a couple hours into it, and no other "show" since.

I don't want to call the doc. They'll prolly want me to go get monitered. Don't wanna, don't wanna, don't wanna.

Note to self: NO red raspberry tea. None. Nada. Unless I'm desperate for labor to start. Then it might be ok.

Should I call? Or try to sleep through them and see what happens?

ok, i may be in the minority here, but i'd try to sleep through, unless the mucous was tinged with blood. but that's just me.

I'd jump in a hot bath. I also might drink some red wine.

I agree with the pps--see what happens through the night--if they get closer together, etc. then consider going in. Try to get some rest tonight.

I agree with the others. I think I am having contractions now but I'm not sure...

Soooo...how's it going Coyotemist?? Were you able to sleep? Let us know!

Hmm, with my recent quick birthing experience, I'd say go in.
That steroid shot can do wonders for them if you catch it in time.
We missed it.(

HUGS to you and praying all is well. xx

not to sound weird but why would RRL tea cause contractions unless your body was already going to conract anyways in which case it is a coincidence? i would assume it was the latter but every 20 minutes all night does seem like a lot... i thought RRL was 100% safe the entire pregnancy? is this not so, does it cause premature labour?

Good morning girls!

When I'm not pregnant RRL tea gives me cramps. I know everything I've ever read says that it's supposed to help tone the uterus, but it turns out that I'm super sensitive to it. I've "met" a few others here on MDC with the same issue. So I keep trying, but have the same result each time.

I ended up going to bed. A few of them woke me in the night, and I'm still having them this morning, but they aren't quite as strong. So I guess they are still this "preterm contractions" which is what my doctor is calling them (not BH, and not labor).

So I'm tired, but still pregnant!

Shukr-they keep talking about the steroid injections, but since all my fetal fibronectins have been negative, they keep deciding not to give them to me. I'm 33 weeks. I'm sorry you missed the window!

Well, my dr has told me that unless I have more than 5 an hour, it is fine. I was having very consistent contractions the other night (really on and off for days), but I took a hot bath and they subsided.

Here is a link that describes the difference between true and false labor for you:

Glad you're still hanging in there, coyote!

Glad you're doing better. I second the bath and wine suggestion for next time...worked great for me.
