Seconding this. It took me about that long to get proof of citizenship for my kids when I returned to Canada.

You can find a list of wait times for various applications on the Immigration Canada website.

I'm well aware of them. I've been dealing with them my whole life. My dad had to apply for his citizenship card when he was 8 and my mom has to renew her permanant residency every 5 years along with her british passport. The wait time for Permanant Residency is between 3 and 8 months and the wait time for Canadian Citizenship is 9-12 months and in order to obtain canadian citizenship you must take a test and get sworn in, in a swearing in ceremony with permanant residency you are not entitled to vote or run for office where as with citizenship you are. Just because you have permanant residency does not mean you are a legal canadian citizen, you can be deported at anytime. The citizenship website doesn't always have the correct information and its best to call immigration canada. It takes FAR longer than a few short weeks to obtain your citizenship. Your papers don't even get started being processed for a minimum of 6-8weeks after you send them in. There is a lot that goes with getting your Citizenship to canada. Its not a simple process.

Woah. I never said it was a simple process. I'm in the midst of it right now. I now how big a pain it is. I was just saying that for those who are interested there is a chart on the site giving estimates on processing times.

And I never said permanent residents were citizens either. Why the attack?

Where was I attacking you? I just stated that the site doesn't always give the right information. You told me to check it out. I was telling of my experience. I am sorry you felt I was attacking you because I was not.

Sorry. It just came across that way because I was just throwing out my suggestion for anyone interested and felt like I got overwhelmed with "that's not helpful" and "you're wrong about...(stuff I never said)." Blame pregnancy brain or what I call "internet idiocy*???" Sorry.

* Internet idiocy: misunderstanding someone because you can't see their facial expression/body language or hear their tone of voice.

Its ok I understand. Internet can be very hard to get across what you want to say without seeming like a jerk sometimes. And I have preggo hormones so sometimes it may seem like I am attacking someone when I am not trying to.
