Yay, Crabbyowl! I hope this is it for you!
I can't believe that I didn't check MDC for ONE DAY, and there were FOUR birth announcements! Wow! I'm so excited that so many are cuddling with their babies already. I'm jealous!

I had my baby shower/mother's blessing yesterday! It was wonderful!

My best friend did a FABULOUS job putting it together--it was Indian-themed since she knows that Indian is my FAVORITE cuisine! I got henna on my belly (it actually didn't stain very dark, though

), everyone painted on a big flower pot, and everyone made their own bead for a birthing necklace. Oh--and everyone wrote a message on a card for a specific birthday for the baby--someone even made a Happy 49th Birthday card!

The drama, however, came with the co-hostess(es). One friend had been talking about doing the shower since the beginning of my pregnancy and then backed out about 6 weeks ago because she was "too busy." She asked another of my friends (honestly, not a really close friend) if she would mind taking over her duties. She agreed to do it enthusiastically! However, she completely flaked on the day of. Her responsibilities were to get a piece of pottery to decorate and supply some of the food (and, of course, to help set up/take down). Her husband and child got sick at the end of this week, so I completely understood that she couldn't be there. However, she didn't even fulfill her other responsibilities!!! My poor friend, Rebecca, who was EXTREMELY ill with a fever, sore throat, and nausea (not to mention a DH and DS who were both also sick), organized, set up, MCed, and took down everything. I offered over and over again to have it at my house, postpone it, whatever I could do to help, but she refused to change it--and it turned out BEAUTIFULLY. I feel horrible for her, and she feels horrible for me--she thinks her personality is too strong and people don't want to work with her, and I think maybe I've been a lousy friend so people didn't care about contributing. Either way, it sucked for Rebecca, even though she was more than happy to do it.
Sorry to rant so early in the morning--a big hug to you if you actually read through all that mess!
I hope you all have a lovely day, and I hope to see more birth announcements soon (that means you, Crabbyowl!)!!!
