Hello, ladies! It's hard to believe we're almost halfway through October already, and we've had so many exciting birth announcements! :

In fact, the reason I'm on here so early is that I'll be adding mine soon - I'm pretty sure I'm in labor. I lost my mucus plug about 6 hours ago, and just after I went to bed I started having what I think are real contractions. : I'm 4 days past my due date.

Have a lovely day, and I hope to post my own birth story soon! :

Yay, Crabbyowl! I hope this is it for you!

I can't believe that I didn't check MDC for ONE DAY, and there were FOUR birth announcements! Wow! I'm so excited that so many are cuddling with their babies already. I'm jealous!

I had my baby shower/mother's blessing yesterday! It was wonderful! My best friend did a FABULOUS job putting it together--it was Indian-themed since she knows that Indian is my FAVORITE cuisine! I got henna on my belly (it actually didn't stain very dark, though ), everyone painted on a big flower pot, and everyone made their own bead for a birthing necklace. Oh--and everyone wrote a message on a card for a specific birthday for the baby--someone even made a Happy 49th Birthday card! The drama, however, came with the co-hostess(es). One friend had been talking about doing the shower since the beginning of my pregnancy and then backed out about 6 weeks ago because she was "too busy." She asked another of my friends (honestly, not a really close friend) if she would mind taking over her duties. She agreed to do it enthusiastically! However, she completely flaked on the day of. Her responsibilities were to get a piece of pottery to decorate and supply some of the food (and, of course, to help set up/take down). Her husband and child got sick at the end of this week, so I completely understood that she couldn't be there. However, she didn't even fulfill her other responsibilities!!! My poor friend, Rebecca, who was EXTREMELY ill with a fever, sore throat, and nausea (not to mention a DH and DS who were both also sick), organized, set up, MCed, and took down everything. I offered over and over again to have it at my house, postpone it, whatever I could do to help, but she refused to change it--and it turned out BEAUTIFULLY. I feel horrible for her, and she feels horrible for me--she thinks her personality is too strong and people don't want to work with her, and I think maybe I've been a lousy friend so people didn't care about contributing. Either way, it sucked for Rebecca, even though she was more than happy to do it.

Sorry to rant so early in the morning--a big hug to you if you actually read through all that mess!

I hope you all have a lovely day, and I hope to see more birth announcements soon (that means you, Crabbyowl!)!!!

Wow Amanda! Sounds like your blessing was a lot more drama than it should've been. I'm glad it turned out well in the end.

I'm jealous of CrabbyOwl possibly in labor. ELVs to her

I've been awake since 0420. Pretty sure it's NOT labor, but I'm damn uncomfortable. I've been awake about 5 other times since 10:00 last night. That hairy, stinky, noisy beast in my bed (aka dh) is not helping the matter either. I'm going to go try for one last shot at some shut eye.

Wow crabbyowl...keeping my fingers crossed for you! Lots of ELVs!! :

Amanda, sounds like your Mother's Blessing was beautiful. I Indian, too! That's sucks about your friends' drama but it sounds like your bff more than made up for all the stress. Did you take any pics??

AAM: : 40 weeks today!! As much as I'd like to have the babe today, I know I have at least 4-6 days left. I'm gonna try really hard not to drive myself nuts over it.

Have a great Sunday, mamas!

s amanda...who needs drama???

Amanda - so glad your shower/blessing went well! And yuck about the drama - totally not very fair to you or your friend! I would just not worry about it though, you'll be able to find a way to return the kindness your friend showed by making such a big effort at the last minute - there always come times when mamas really need a hand!

Crabbyowl how exciting!! Have a wonderful birth and I'm looking forward to your announcement

BDD Grats on your 40 week mark... I hope the next few days go comfortably for you and you get a lot of rest for your LO's arrival.

PW How did the shopping excursion go? I'm so jealous of your HA outlet sale!!

AAM Been kinda lazy this morning. DH is grumpy because of a problem making an exchange at Staples last night, and really noisy kiddos this morning. But I'm feeling fine

The MANA 2008 conference is happening here in my city this week! So today I'm cooking a dish to drop off at my midwife's house so she can take it to the conference site to help feed the MANA board members arriving today. We're also picking up the birth tub yay!

Need to do a little rearranging in the living room to make room for the tub and I'm hoping that will happen today. And we're also planning to take the kiddos to a corn maze this afternoon, so again a bit of a busy day for us. Hope everyone has a good day!

skrimpy, im loving your website!!!!

our shopping went great!!! it was a bit stressful b/c of shopping on a Saturday and i promise not to do that again. the sale starts on a Friday but DP and my friend's DH wanted to go to Timberland so we waited on them. never again!!! lol!

We also hit a Gymbo outlet. It was definitely a dangerous day of shipping. I try my best not to do that but when stuff is $5 at Gymbo and HA its hard to pass up. I tried to simply focus on ds3 b/c he can hand stuff down to baby but well....i wasnt completely successful.

oh, and i bought stuff for ME too (which i rarely do). I got a really nice winter jacket for 60% off. score!

its hard to plan for things at this point. im 42 weeks tomorrow. I guess ill forcus on laundry today and maybe cooking something else in teh pressure cooker, which i am becoming addicted to.

As for the responses to pp's, : (to skrimpy's.)

I too was off yesterday, and it's funny how much the posts changed. There are fewer and fewer of us still chatting daily. I'm amazed that I got so much sleep last night. I actually had some pretty vivid dreams, which I've not had b/c of the up and down and pain in my right rib for a few nights.

As I already said on another thread, I am out of plans for the week after today. I feel like I'm in limbo with a lot of things, from my bank statement that has yet to arrive (usually get it on the 5th) to the fact that based on my two due dates, 16th (18 wk ultrasound measurement) or 20th, I would have either already had this baby with my c-section I am avoiding, or would be tomorrow. It's strange how everything else stops subconsciously based on those could have been milestones. Ah, well, I'm already trying to cook up plans-- a day a the laundromat Monday, perhaps, washing all of the comforters in the house, getting the light stuff in order. I still need to declutter/clean the home office and do more scrapbooking for DD, but am "terrified" to think of what I will do when all of those projects are finished!

Have a good day, mamas!

shopping sounds like soooo much fun!!! How lucky you are to be close to a HA outlet At least you're keeping yourself busy..... I think I'll spend my day cleaning a bit, grocery shopping, and making sure that the bills are paid this month Any other ideas for things I can do to keep my mind off of the fact that I'm overdue?!?

I'm still here! I am going to work in the house today and probably go to a potluck tonight. It's so hard to make plans for everyday because I really don't feel like doing anything at all (except having a baby of course!) I am officially past my EDD now, so that's great. Always knew that I would be here. I am feeling a little crampier and had a tiny bit of bloody mucous this morning, so at least something's happening....

ELVs to crabbyowl, I hope this is it for you!

I'm starting to feel absolutely awful. Waking up every 1.5-2 hours to go to the bathroom, my arm still hurting, crampy BMs at least 4-6 times a day, irregular contractions, and this blasted cold that will NOT go away - I'm feeling like one big ol' mess! Add to everything that I'm miserable thinking about going back to work tomorrow after being off for two weeks. After having DS early, I was certain I'd have our DD by now. Not that I'm complaining TOO much, I know the longer she stays in, the better it is for her, but still... I don't know how I'm going to manage going back to work. Especially with the contractions - yeah, like I can really change positions all that often to get them to calm down. I have a desk job!

Goodness, I'm turning into such a cranky person. This is not fun. On a happier note though, I did finally finish the 'quilt' for the crib, so that's one thing crossed off my list! Today I plan to finish up the Boppy cover, basket liners, and hopefully get things ready to paint in the kids' room. It's almost completely cleared out, which was the big concern. All I need to do in our bedroom is clear my nightstand and make room for the Amby. That shouldn't take me too terribly long. I feel like all I'm doing now is keeping busy. Probably because that IS what I'm doing.

Oh, one more oddity I've noticed (and after checking Google, realizing I should call my MW...) - my left leg is swelling much more than my right. Almost twice as much! Cankles are already not pretty, but uneven cankles are even less pretty! *sigh*

Still all kinds of big and pregnant here too! My best friends surprised me with a mini-shower last night. : Got some cute clothes, a book I'd been wanting, a nursing cover, some random but useful little stuff, and a swing! Today is we have a bridal shower for one of those friends. Should be lots of fun. And then tonight I would like to have a baby, please.

Still here too - Lots of ctx at night - didn't sleep until 4 last night - was napping and waking to pretty strong ctx just now, but now that I am at the computer, they seem to have lessened, darn it.

I don't usually post a ton in this thread, but since it's getting so quiet, I thought I'd chime in - it's not even half way through the month yet

38w6d today....I was hoping to go tomorrow at 39 weeks since it's thanksgiving day here in Canada...but not I'm really hoping not to.....I am still sick with this darn cold and it's driving me crazy and now my eldest son is sick and has a bit of a fever. So Hopefully baby stays put a few more days.

Everyday I feel torn about wanting baby to arrive now and not wanting baby to arrive until everyone is healed. Hopefully the sickies will be gone by mid week and baby can come.

Me next??

I actually had a good night's sleep last night. I kept dreaming my water broke and labour was starting. When I got out of bed about an hour ago, I had some bloody show (a big amount-TMI). I couldn't help but be totally excited. I literally said "woohoo!" to myself quietly in the bathroom.

No ctx at all though, so still could be days away.........but since the cervix is already dilated so much, I'm still hoping it's soon!!

Sorry so many are feeling uncomfortable.

I'm here... just relaxing and trying to not get too anxious for my little girl to get here. Nothing exciting to say though, lol. Just another boring day in the life of this preggo girl.

I'm sad though. Yesterday, while taking a leisurely walk with my hubby, we found the dead body of one of my beloved kitties. He had been MIA for a couple of days, but that wasn't anything too abnormal for him. So yeah, my weekend is kind of sucking right now... Trying to get in a better mood.

But yeah, hope all of you ladies have a great day. Sending bunches of labor vibes to those who want/need them!! ((hugs))

Don't have time to read through... I'll try to check back in later in the day though!

I've got a meeting with my doula any minute now, then Dh and I are off on a shopping trip. It's a crisp 39 degrees at 10:30 this morning!!!! : We've already had the first snow of the year up on our mountain... looks like this winter is starting early!

I found my cervix this morning!!! : It's totally moved anterior and I fit my finger in easily! It was so cool, I just followed the babe's head till I found the opening... don't know why I didn't think of that till today! But I think before now it's been too posterior for me to reach. So.. that means at least 1 cm, right? It felt like I could have done more, but I only had the one finger in the yoni and I got instantly crampy so figured I was done playing around. But yeah!!! BH are doing something!!!
