seriously, do you just lather with a tablespoon and then rinse, make a mix of honey and something else and keep it in a bottle? what kind of honey? i have plenty natural honey but no raw... I'm trying to use as few ingredients (literally) in my face wash routine and i'm loving the idea of having 1!! thing to wash with

fyi i have oily skin... if that makes a difference

also what do you moisturize with? my skin is oily but gets pretty dry in areas putting straight up oil on my skin sounds AWFUL!!!

I wet my face with warm water, rub it with honey, rinse. That's fine for morning. For a good cleaning at night I do the morning thing, then rub in more honey, massage well, then use a washcloth in hot water to wash off, rinse out the cloth and repeat as often as needed till face feels really clean. Something like the oil cleansing method but with honey. This way my pores get really clean and my face feels fresh.

I put the honey directly onto my skin and then rinse it off.

To exfoliate, i mix the honey with sugar.

I wet my face, rub in honey, rinse and be done Occasionally I'll exfoliate with a pinch of baking soda. In the dead of winter I might have to then moisturize with a small dab of coconut oil but mostly, just honey & water does it all (washes, exfoliates & moisturizes). It's great stuff

There's a million pages in it but this thread is the be-all-end-all of washing with honey threads.

thanks for all of your answers so far! more questions, though

okay, some mama's seem to recommend a regular cleanser first or to mix the bs with honey - is that all of the time? i am trying honey to wash and witch hazel to tone, nothing to moisturize (i know, tsk tsk) looking for a natural moisturizer (suggestions, please!) is this really going to work with my oily skin? should i be adding tto or something along that line?

my goal is to rid my bathroom of chemical or even formulated items, unless i'm doing the fomulatin' i don't want anything store bought with ingredients that i don't know on the label... just pure simple ingredients, like food stuffs

hey this is my 400th post wow! glad i caught that!

I wouldn't use a regular cleanser first. That could be very drying and why wash your face twice? The honey really does clean. Raw honey is anti-microbial and will in fact cleanse. And you can use coconut oil straight up as a moisturizer, if in fact you find you still need it with a honey only wash. The addition of baking soda is something for once in a while. Too much or too often is harsh for your skin. Honey is a mild exfolient in it's own right so adding baking soda too often will result in exfoliating too often. (Does all that help?? That's a lot of snippets of info in a little paragraph )

eta: I would, however, invest in a nice unheated raw honey so you can truly get all the benefits of honey. And if you decide you can't afford raw honey, be sure to look at the ingredients of the honey you're using b/c oftentimes it's cut with corn syrup

I use regular honey (not raw but no corn syrup or anything weird). I put about a teaspoon in my palm, and then use DRY fingers to apply it to my DRY face. (I don't feel like it works as well if my face is wet, it might just be me though.) Then I scrub it off with a wet washcloth. I do this in the morning and at night.

Normally I don't use any moisturizer but 2-3 times a week I put some shea butter on my face at night. I tend to have somewhat oily skin and find this does not cause breakouts.

I wash with raw honey, only when I take a shower, so roughly once a day. Just get a pool in my hand, rub in on my face (and maybe eat a tiny bit ) then rinse it off.

It's pretty amazing and really does clean all on it's own. I also have oily skin and I've noticed I'm a bit less oily using honey. I think it's because the honey doesn't strip the skin, so the skin doesn't feel the need to amp up oil production.

I will occasionally (whever I feel like it) exfoliate with sugar and honey together.

But that's it, nothing else goes on my face.

Wow, I had never, ever heard of this before! How cool! I take it if it can be used on your face it can also be used on your body, right? I wonder if you could scent it with eos as well...I like all that smelly stuff, but I'm trying to get to a more all natural place as well.

Dh would be thrilled if I would stop buying Dr. Hauschka (sp?) and switched to something as inexpensive as honey. And I would be glad as well. Now I can't wait to run out of products so I can try this.
