Well I have gotten to hold him all of 3 times so far. However today, since it was just me at the hospital, I held my little Thierry Bear for 2 hours, just rocking him and singing and talking to him. It was so wonderful!
And another wonderful thing, all the tubes are getting less and less. He has been successfully extabated (the breathing tube out) for 3 days and doing great. He does have oxygen constantly blowing into his little nose from a tube (Petri had the same thing while in NICU for a few days) and they are weaning him off of that, and the tubes are gone except for a feeding tube with mommy's milk, IVs with intralipids (fat), and protein liquids to keep him chubby and a saline lock just in case they do need to give him meds. He is still on methadone but is getting weaned, but they do that very slowly. Soon they will start on bottle feeds then it is just a hop and skip until I have my baby home with me
I am so incredibly in love with my new family
Although it gets hard juggling my time between a horribly sick husband, an AP 15 m/o and my CICU babe
Oh a mother's love IS a mother's job
