I am looking into schools for DS in case HSing doesn't work out. One of the ones I'm looking at is a charter school, so you have to apply. Vaxes are mentioned twice in the application. First, in the section listing the documentation necessary to enroll, it says:
Then, when it's listing parental responsibilities (and there are a LOT), it says:
There is no mention of exemptions (Ohio has all three kinds), even documented medical exemptions. This irks me. They're making it seem like a child can NOT attend their school unless they have gotten ALL the vaxes required by the state. It just seems like they're trying to trick people into thinking they're mandatory when they're not. That's why people are always saying, "But he'll have to get them to go to school, right?" They think that they are absolutely required, so might as well just follow the schedule. But if they don't have to admit everyone, would they just not pick DS for admission and not tell us it's because of the vaxes?
It's so annoying that they assume everybody vaxes and they present them as mandatory!
