wolly nylon serger question

So, I'm sewing cloth diapers. Serging the edges to finish them all together. I've done this before, but my serger is acting weird. I'm doing 4 thread, I've got wolly nylon in the loopers, and regular serger thread in the needles. Tension looks great, everything is working fine, EXCEPT, every few inches, the upper looper thread doesn't get "caught" on the left needle thread... So it ends up looking like a 3-thread overlock with the left needle thread just a plain stitch and a gap between... And it doesn't matter how fast or slow I go, whether or not it is a curve... : It's not completely consistant (like skipping every 2 inches)- it just skips randomly. I mean, they will still work, and I'm probably the only one that is going to notice and there is no way I'm going to scrap them because of it, but what in the world is going on???

Hi !

Im new here but I have sewn a lot of diapers with wooly nylon..

It honestly sounds like a tension issue..maybe the thread is getting caught somewhere? Or possiblly the machine itself is off...It's hard to tell without looking at it
if youhavent done it already I would run some fabric through it and just watch the tension and thread as oppossed to the fabric to see exactly what it is doing

I hope this helps

I still don't get it... the thread is feeding through just fine. Smooth and pretty as you please.

Is your needle blunt and not always getting right through the fabric to make the stitch?

ooooooh... now there's a thought. I'll change needles and see what happens.
