spa wrap?

i wanted to make something like this for my nieces http://www.toysandgamesonline.com/as...=0&sku=TCG1079 and it really looks easy enough but the instructions make it seem more complicated then i think it is....

isn't it as easy as folding over a top hem and inserting elastic? why do i need to sew the elastic onto the top vs just inserting it through a hem?

one thing i don't understand is how to make a closure - that is the one area i am having trouble visualizing.

any advice?

For the elastic yeah I would think you can fold-over a hem and insert the elastic. I think that's called a casing for the elastic.

For the closure, I would use hook & loop (velcro). When the wrap is on you have 2 layers at the front/overlap. I would put the loop on the outside of the inner layer - and make that a fairly large horizontal strip so it's very adjustable. Then a smaller horizontal strip of hook on the inside of the outer layer. That way, if it's being worn on a larger setting the exposed velcro is the soft side (loop).

What a great sewing project! It will make a lovely gift!
