Stillbirth

Dear all
A very dear friend of mine had a stillborn baby this morning. I am at a loss as to what I can do for her. If anyone on this list has had this experience, I'd be grateful to hear what you found comforting.
With love
Sarah

Sarah - I am so sorry for your friend and for you who love her. A close friend of mine lost her baby and i sent her this book. She said it was very helpful - she lives across the country - if i was closer i would have cooked, cleaned, did laundry whatever.

Thanks Amanda. I live close to her so when her dh is back at work and so on, I'll offer some practical help and maybe do her an evening meal a few times a week to ease the burden a bit. I just can't believe it.

Here's a great thread in the loss area:

Explains a lot of nice things that will be much appreciated. I think the most important thing is to acknowledge her baby. Don't just pretend her pregnancy and birth didn't happen. She had a baby, a real person. Even if he/she isn't here they are still a person. That's what bothered me the most, when people would just pretend like nothing happened.

Remember to call her and be there for her around all holidays.

Sit with her, let her cry, sometimes there's just no need to talk.
go for a walk with her, make sure she gets out of the house, but go to a place with few/no children.
I am so sorry.
