Mount Washington in November

Hello!

My dh has gifted me with a 2-night stay at the Mount Washington Hotel for a milestone birthday (heh, heh, guess how old?) A 2 night stay, no kids :: It's somewhat bittersweet though as dd#2 and I have never spent a whole night apart. I need this though to recharge the batteries.

After living in New England for over 10 years, would you believe that our car has not climbed Mount Washington even once? We never did it as we always thought that I would either do the run up there or volunteer for it. But with a family, neither has happened yet. Is the car ride worth it?

Dh booked us for hotel's food and wine weekend so breakfast and dinner are covered. Any activities not to be missed?

At the moment, I'm looking at the zip line ride and a guided hike. Dh is NOT a hiker though so it may be something easy or moderate.

If the mountain top is clear then it is worth the trip. The railroad which is on "your" side of the mountain is expensive. The MWH is a beautiful place and the food is incredible (or was 15 years ago). Unfortunately the foliage is probably past peak now but there are many hikes that aren't too difficult. Arethusa Falls is just down 302 a few miles.

No real info to add (don't know the area that well). But I had to say you are not the only one!! I've lived here my entire life and we just went last year. What a trip that was. Scared the carp out of me climbing that mountain in a 12 passenger (read super wide and feels every wind movement to boot!!) van. It was gorgeous though. Leaves or not, the view is breathtaking (on a clear day).
