Nervous about getting exemption

We homeschool, but we have to get an exemption if we want DS involved in the Homeschool Program. I have the paper, we have to have it noterized, but I'm freaking out a little for some reason. I'm totally nervous about it.

When we go down there to have it notarized, so we have to do anything special? Are they going to ask us a lot of questions about what religion, or if they've been vaxed before? My oldest DS had his 3 month shots (FIVE years ago, because I just didn't know better). Please tell me I'm freaking out for no reason!!

You are freaking for no reason.
The notary will not ask you anything, that is not there job. They will just notarize it and you will be on your way.

Yeah, a notary can't ask you anything - though I understand your feelings. When I had my kids' forms notarized I wondered if the NP was judging me, if she thought I was some kook or something for not vaxing - and I'm not really the type to care what people think about me, either!

It reminds me of when we had the final electrical inspection done for our house. We had an old fridge plugged into an outlet in the garage, the cord was in horrible shape and DH hadn't fixed it yet. I mentioned that the inspector would probably fail our inspection just b/c of that cord - and DH replied that the guy couldn't even say anything to us about it. His job was to inspect the house wiring and the outlets, period.

I was nervous too...

I understand how you feel... I was nervous too but it really turned out to be no big deal at all. I just had it notarized at my local bank... I convinced myself that she wouldn't have anything to say about. She actually did ask me why- but not for "notary" reasons- just out of curiosity as a fellow mom. It went really well. There really is no reason to be nervous- it is our right as a parent to decide to opt out of vaxing period!! Good luck- you'll do great!

Thank you all! I knew I was freaking out about nothing, but sometimes it's hard to logically talk yourself out of the craziness!

We're going down this afternoon to have them notarized!

I went through the same thing a few weeks ago - nervous that the notary was going to say something, worrying that the daycare center was going to say something. I worried all week about it. Not a single person even batted an eye. And even if they did - you DO NOT have to explain yourself at all.

I can definitely understand your anxiety! I'm already thinking about it, and it's at least a year or so away for us.

So, no one asks you about your religion if you're playing the religious exemption?
