A funny I just had to share with folks that would understand the humour!
I took a one-night class on natural immune defense for winter health last week.
: The gal presenting the class is a certified herbalist, though I was not terribly impressed with either her presentation or information (some was totally wrong and some was outright unsafe).
Anyway, she was asking about some of the things people do to suppress their immune systems for Winter. Folks were answering things like not eating right, changing sleep patterns, not enough fresh air, being stressed, etc.
I said, getting immunized.
She gave me the
and asked if anyone in the class would be getting a flu shot. Only one gal raised her hand (she has a heart condition and her doctor said she needed two flu shots, just in case the first didn't work!
)
A short discussion followed about how vaccinations are not 100% and can cause harm and asking are some of the diseases they are supposed to prevent really all that bad?
Most of the folks said they never even thought about vaccines, you had to get them for your kids, it was the law.
Um, okay, whatever.......
The teacher went on to say about how she didn't vaccinate her children until they were two or three and that it was crazy, they wanted to give them that one for chicken pox, the Vermicellivax!

I just about lost it! Varivax - vs - VermicelliVax
I realize that she might have been nervous in front of everyone (this was her first class ever), but, good gosh woman, get your facts correct!
I didn't have the heart to correct her on this, in front of everyone.
Vermicelli Vaccine:
Possible mild post-vaccination side effects: injection site pain, redness, bloating, weight gain, an overwhelming desire to run marathons, the need to bathe in red or clam sauce, soaking in a hot tub until you are al dente.
Possible serious post-vaccination side effects: throwing yourself against a wall to see if you stick, drinking Chianti until you pass out.
Anybody know any other side effects?!
