State making it hard

So I have read the specific statute in my state and it does say "required" vaccines, but the state department of health's website only has a "recommended" schedule. I looked all over the website for recommended - and found it wasn't on the website. I called in and asked - they said they would fax me the sheet. I again got the recommended schedule. I called again and got transferred three times before getting a voicemail. I left a message and 4 days later someone called me back and I had to explain I needed the "REQUIRED" by law as stated in statute xx.x.xxx. He said OK, he would look into it. A couple of days later I actually recieved the required schedule. It has about 1/3 of the recommended vaccines on it. I do not know if other states operate this way, but I suggest you get the required by law list rather than the recommended list.

From what I've read, most states have a recommended and a required for school schedule. We are doing none!

Which state are you in? Vaccines are NOT "required by law" per se ... they are required for school and daycare entry. All states in the US except WV and MS have vaccine exemptions for school and daycare.

Yep- most states are that way. We are all supposed to just listen to our dr.'s and states and blindly do what they "recommend".

Here is some reference material:http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/laws/state-reqs.htm

Surely I understand the law. It states only for those attending school. I just thought for those who don't want to go through the exemption proceedure, they can at least limit the number of vaccines administered based on the "required" rather than "recommended".

It is so crazy. In my state they don't even require the MMR only the mumps and rubella but can't find a dr. around here who will separate them, so just opted out instead. I think there were about 3 or 4 others that were not required, only recommended. I agree, quite ridiculous!
