help. newbie thread question

i inherited my great-grandma's viking husqvarna 6020. i just finally figured out how to get the bobbin thread up to the top but now when i go to sew, the threads aren't interlocking? or, maybe interlocking every ten stitches.

i have no idea what i'm doing wrong. it's threaded correctly, the bottom thread is up, i press the pedal, the needle goes down and makes a hole in the fabric and then there is no stitch.

any suggestions welcome!

Did you thread the bobbin correctly (that's the lower thread). There is a right way and a wrong way to thread them.

That's the only thing that comes to mind... do you know when the last time it was serviced? It might be worth it to take it in to a Viking store/service center and have someone show you how to properly thread it, and make sure it is working correctly.

i have no idea. i put the bobbin in with the thread coming out like in the picture in the manual... at least i think i did, i'll have to double check. i live about 2 hours from the nearest large town so it's not easy for me to get to town.

i just watched an animation about how a sewing machine works so i'll double check in the morning. thanks!!
