Hypnobabies - Passing Out Listening to Home Studies

I just started my home studies for hypnobabies (class doesn't start til December). I've been listening to "Baby Stay In" as well as a couple Intros my teacher sent me. The thing is they seem to make me so relaxed I fall asleep about 10-25 minutes in.

Does that mean they aren't going to work or are they just working too well?

hmm I don't know! maybe you just need to do them more often to get your body used to relaxing and not sleeping? and maybe it's a sign that your body needs more sleep. I think in our society we don't know how to relax, unless we are sleeping. probably b/c most of us don't get enough sleep to begin with. (that's my case anyhow!)

I always fell asleep a lot to my birthing script (which is similar to the hypnobabies according to my friends). I think I am just SUPER relaxed. Haven't started the script for this pregnancy right now, but I likely will as it's only a couple of months to go here.

Falling asleep is common and fine. If you want to know what's on the CDs, you can fast forward through the relaxation intro so that you can actively listen to the suggestions while you're doing another activity (dishes, dinner, etc.). That may help you feel more confident since you'll consciously know what's on the CDs even though you're falling asleep.

Some women feel like they are asleep, but they are really experiencing hypnotic amnesia (very deep hypnosis). If you come back to full awareness at the end of the script then you were likely just very deeply in hypnosis. Of course, if you really did fall asleep that's ok, too.

That's exactly what happens. I usually wake up hearing the tailend of the CD or wake up right when it ends.

DITTO ^

I would do my scripts when I went to bed each night. I just put my mp3 player in my ear and went to sleep. I listened to those scripts at least once while I was conscious and working around the house. It's amazing how well you know the suggestions even though you aren't conscious.

HypnoBirthing

I used HypnoBirthing with the birth of my son and I did them same thing while I practiced. I used my cd's every night and ended up "falling asleep" all the time. When it came day to birth my son, I was sorta anxious that I didnt do enough rehearsing-at least while awake. Well, let me tell you...the same "sleeping" that I did while I was practicing was the same thing I did from 6-10cm. I didn't feel a single surge (contraction) from 6-10cm!!! And, the only reason why I "woke up" was because my son was coming down. :-) 45 minutes after that, I was holding my son. It works and keep listening, regardless if you "fall asleep." I would recommend though, doing additional practice while awake. I also listened while cleaning or hanging out around the house.

I would def look into HypnoBirthing too and try to find a practitioner in your area!

Happy Birthing!
