Which Credit card processor do u use?

I used to have propay.com and i was happy with them.

I just switched to authorize thinking that I would be saving money.

I just got my monthly statement and didn't realize there were all these hidden fees. I'm actually paying more now than when I was with propay. The fees were written on the contract. But the words were foreign to me. For example, there are qualified disount rate, mid-qualifed discount rate, non-qualified discount rate. When I was on the phone with the representative, he didn't mention about the differences in all these different rate. He just mentioned one rate. I assumed that I was getting the qualifed discount rate because I am a qualified merchant. But no! Only few of my transactions were qualifed rate! Most were mid qualified and some are non qualifed... making the rate much higher. Plus, they advertise that there is .30 center per transaction rate. But there is also Address Verification Service (AVS) which is .05. I didn't know what this was and didn't assume it applied to me since it wasn't mentioned over the phone when I talked to the representative. So, really.. i'm charged .30 + .05 = .35 per transaction.

I'm curious too. We just got switched form Paypal Standard to Paypal Pro and I'd like to find a better deal at some point.

You know, I use Authorize.net and chose it after what I thought was a pretty good apples to apples breakdown. Acutally, come to think of it, Authorize doesn't charge me anything but the statement fee (10, 15 bucks, something like that) it's the merchant account provider, in my case Merchant Warehouse, that charge the discount. It's your merchant account that I think you're having a problem with, not Authorize, unless I'm misunderstanding somehow.

I use Paypal Payments Pro and have been pretty happy with it. I have a free business checking account that limits the amount of deposits I can recieve before I get charged fees. That's why I've been reluctant to check into autorize or propay....I guess some day I'll need to do that math and see if there is a better option than Paypal. Maybe ignorance is bliss in my case eh? LOL

Carrin, I asked my bank (Bank of America) and they said that EFTs don't count as deposits, just FYI.
