Little Christopher Robert made his appearence today at 12:34pm after only 3 1/2 hrs of labor!!! Weighing in at 8lbs 4 oz and 21 inches long!!
As you will recall I posted at 9am this morning. I thought my water had broken at 7:25 when I woke up to a wet gush. It wasn't much and didn't happen again for awhile, but I knew I didn't pee myself, lol. I went to the bathroom and came back to bed and Chris asked me if everything was okay. I told him I was questioning if my water had broken but I wasn't sure. I laid down for a few mins and felt a dull backache, not much. I was trying not to get my hopes up, but I called the MW who told me to just see what would happen over the next couple hours and let her know if things picked up, as I wasn't having contractions yet. Then right at 9:02 as I was sitting to post an update here when the contractions started. I knew for sure this was it. So I went around the house and gathered up the last items that I thought I needed and picked up a bit. Then I was having to focus through the contractions so I said I was getting in the shower. And that is where I stayed until we left. I called our doula, Amanda, right before I got in and told her I thought she should head on over. So I got in the shower with the intention to shave, hehe, but that didn't happen. They were getting more intense and I was having to stay on my hands and knees or leaning against the wall. Amanda showed up was asking how I was doing and at this point my contractions were about 4 mins apart and lasting 60-90sec long. Amanda suggested bringing in the birth ball and trying to sit on it and see how I felt. It was okay but I started to feel some pressure, so slowly I got up, washed my hair, and said alrighty I think it is time to go. Now at this point I was still fine once a contraction was done and was talking and joking with everybody. I got dressed and was really working through contractions. We got in the car and started to make our way to the birth center. Driving was a b*tch. I pretty much had one long contraction the whole drive. But the funny thing is on the way I did have a break in the contraction and I looked up at a gas station and commented on how gas was $2.99 now!!! Chris just laughed at me and we giggled, great memory. We got the the Birthing center at 11:12 and I knew I was close because I had been feeling a tad pushy in the car, but was holding it all in because I didn't want to have the baby in the car. I was starting to shake through the contractions. We got upstairs and made it into the birthing room. I got my vitals taken and then I hopped into the birthing tub. It felt so good! I just couldn't really find a position I was comfortable in. I was leaning on the edge in a deep squat. Things just got more intense and Tracy checked me, I was 10cm with a tiny lip. I was eccstatic!! I really didn't think it would be that easy!! Things were really intense and I was feeling pushy but it didn't feel good to push yet, so I tried to wait it out. Then I checked myself and his head was right there, about a finger tip in. I knew I could do this, I had to. It was hard and it hurt, but I did it. I found a position on my hands and knees that felt good and stayed there. I pushed with everything I had. The midwife tried to help, but I told her not to touch me. I was supporting myself and his head was right there. I pushed him out and fell onto my knees and delivered him right on to my chest. Nobody else touched him, only me! It was great! It took me a couple seconds to get my baring. I had to breath. My bottom really hurt and I was convinced I tore. He started crying and was covered in vernix!!! After the feeling to my legs returned we stood us up and got us to the bed to deliver the placenta. It felt so good to lay down and then he peed on me
I felt great! Sort of in shock, I couldn't believe it went so fast. After a little bit and trying to nurse I was able to take a quick shower, which was wonderful. Then we just cuddled in bed and ate cheese and crackers. Dad is in love!! We think that he looks a lot like Lailah did when she was born, but his nose is bigger and he has a bit of a cone head.
We are now back home which is just wonderful!! He is sleeping and I'm just enjoying this natural high :-D
