Did a vaccine cause this?

Ok, so we're facing an issue here at home and I thought I would bring it up here. I've done some research about this online and can't find much. But I remember searching for circ info and all that was available (or that I could find) was pro-circ. I didn't learn of other informative sites until I came here to Mothering so I'm bringing this up to you ladies.

To make a super-long story short () DD who is 4yrs old has some spots on here back that she has had for a very long time. At least two years, maybe a longer. They are grayish and translucent. It started as a very small spot and would come and go. She has said that it itches, so we just assumed it was some sort of dry skin thing. Well, now there are at least 2 spots that are staying, getting larger, and starting to spread. We finally decided to take her to the doc to check it out. We went to my doc who I usually see once during my pregnancies. He's usually very down to earth and doesn't over-treat, over-medicate, or over-proscribe. He is sending us to a dermatologist but said it appears to be lipoatrophy, but cannot be sure.

**On a side note, (I know, I said this would be short ) we took her in for a lump/indention on her head that at first he was not that concerned about. Then after seeing her back, he said that he had only seen this in cases where there was an insulin shot, steroid injection, or a large bruise as in being punched. He kept asking questions and I kinda got the a weird feeling about it.**

My question is... Could this have been caused by a vaccine? Much to my regret, DD received shots up to 6mos. or so and I'm always paranoid that I've caused damage.

If anyone has any info, PLEASE provide your input!

TIA Mamas!!

Hmmm, could it be some type of eczema? Because vaccines are highly suspicious in causing or triggering eczema, and eczema is thought to be related to allergies or something else going on in the body, like trying to rid itself of toxins or other excesses. I don't know if that makes sense, sorry.

If you do think it is eczema, it could be diet related. DS's eczema is triggered by wheat/gluten.

I'm not so sure about the marks on her back, but that indentation you noticed may have been lipoatrophy.

Quote:
Lipoatrophy is the technical term for the loss or ‘wasting’ of fat from the face and other areas of the body such as the buttocks, upper arms, legs and thighs. Moderate to severe lipoatrophy of the face has a noticeable ‘sunken cheeks’ look and may also include loss of fat around the nose, mouth, temples and eye sockets.

It's often associated with drugs used to treat AIDS, a site reaction to insulin injections, and other injection treaments.

A quick search shows that vaccine-induced lipoatrophy has been documented at DTaP injection sites (in particular, the buttocks) - but I don't imagine that your DD got an injection on her back.

I think the marks on her back are something completely different. A dermatologist will be able to give you much better info.
