SPD post-partum ?

Anybody else still have SPD/ pelvic problems post-partum?

I'm 2 weeks PP and still have daily pain, sometimes severe from SPD . Still seeing my chiro, last visit (Tuesday) did help more finally. She also thinks the baby during our birth bruised my tail bone (had some back labor off and on).

Am I alone here? I was really hoping to be one of those gals who has her baby and is nearly immediately better.. as it is sometimes I can barely walk at night, and turning over in bed (to switch sides while feeding baby) hurts sooooo bad! Daytime isn't to bad, but still am aware of pain/discomfort off an on in the day too.

Can't speak for pp spd, but as bad as it is now, I cannot and do not expect it to just disappear, especially after giving birth which I expect to misalign things more. I will be visiting a chiro for certain after she's born, especially if I'm still in pain.

I hope you get some relief soon! You might need to be adjusted, though. I read that spd is often caused by being misaligned prior to pregnancy, and since everything relaxes and gets moved around more.. just makes it worse.

Mama I had it much worse last pregnancy (this time it hasn't been so bad) but it took a couple of months to feel back to normal PP. It takes a while for the hormones to dissipate and your ligaments etc to harden up again... I would definitely recommend you keep seeing your chiro for now.

I'm not sure if it's what you're experiencing but I'm definitely having some achey pains in my pubic bone. My labor was all back labor and my tailbone has been sore. I just assumed it was all just a part of labor and birth. I didn't have any pain like this during the pregnancy so I'm not sure if it's anything like SPD or not. I do know that I need to be adjusted since I haven't been since the day before the birth. I just haven't felt physically ready to be adjusted.

Mine is HORRIBLE and I imagine that it will still hurt after the baby is born. Are there any stretches that help at all? I've never really looked into all that much. I had some issues pp last time around, so I might should figure out something ahead of time. I guess possible go to the Chiro...although I've never been

I have hip pain if I lay on one side too long, and my tailbone is sore too especially after sitting and nursing for a long stretch. Ds likes to cluster feed all evening long, and my tailbone is killing me by the time we go to bed. I had pretty intense back labor this time, but I've had hip and tailbone pain after birth in non-back labors previously so at least for me I don't think it's necessarily related to back labor. In the past it's always gone away on its own by a few weeks after birth. For me I think what causes a lot of the pain is being inactive, sitting and nursing for long stretches. The more I'm up and around, the better I feel.

Hate to tell you, that for me personally, the first 2-3 weeks after birth are the worst SPD wise for me and then I will still have pelvic pain for around 18 months post birth.

Some of ya'll sure aren't encouraging LOL! Oh well..... the truth.... stinks sometimes.

I do agree that moving around/activity does lessen the pain, which I suppose is why night time is so bad, aka not moving around much.

LOL, exercise, physio and pelvic floor stuff is the way to go, if its particularly bad, try a support belt (although I hate those things, they feel so weird).

(ETA: Not in your due date club, found this in new posts.)

I feel your pain. I had SPD throughout my pregnancy ( I was in denial until afterwards) and I had it for almost 6 months after. I have found one exercise that helped immensely. It works better with a partner.
Lay on your back, with your knees up. Have your partner try to pull your knees apart while you resist (this will hurt.) hold for about 10 secs. Have your partner push your knees together while you try to pull them apart. Hold for about 10 seconds again.
This will hurt. Plain and simple. You will feel like something is about to pop, and eventually it does. Thats when it starts to feel better. Kegels help alot, though don't try abdominal exercises until 6 weeks.

I had my legs fall asleep, had my groin go numb(now thats uncomfortable!) had pain in my legs and hips if I walked, and couldn't sleep well for months until I did the above exercise. I can walk normally, sleep normally, sit normally :
That being, it might not work for you Hope you feel some relief soon.

:

It strengthens the adductors and abductors and help support the pelvis in moving back to pre-baby positioning.
